Could anybody recommend a decently priced barrel from somewhere online?

AFAIK, only Colt and DPMS offer this configuration. The DPMS/CMMG barrels, on the EE, are sweet!(though I have the 14.5")

Another vote for the DPMS/CMMG barrels. And CMMG are good people to deal with.

Another vote for the CMMG/DPMS barrels! I have two of their complete uppers and they are top-notch.

I just ordered one for my first AR15. M4A3 flat top with a 1X7 chromlined barrel. The most readily avalible ammo around my area is UMC FMJ 55gr. Should I have gone with a 1X9?? BTW CMMG was very helpful on the phone, and my order shipped the same day.

armonic, Don't worry 55 gr works just fines with a CMMG 1/7, trust me I know...[:D] Right now for a fighting rifle the 1/7 is the best twist to go with. You can still shoot the cheap light stuff and step up to heavier good stuff when you want to.
