I picked up a pre ban AR flash suppressor at a gun show. The strange thing is that it will only turn about 1/4 turn then stops, like it is the wrong thread. I tried it on a Colt, and a Bushmaster barrel with the same result. Is there more than one type of muzzle thread?

My 9mm Colt's flash hider also looks just like a 223 on the outside, but is threaded differently. Guess that's good, as I can see what kind of problem someone would have if they put a FH with a little 223 hole on a 9mm barrel...[>Q]

I think the outer diameter is different too- Its been several years since I tried it, but as I recall the M7 bayonet ring wouldn't fit around the 9mm either. Thanks for the offer mboyd, but I really don't need an extra. Find out what it is first, then put it up on EE and get your money back.

Colt 9mm and 7.62x39 threads are 1/2x36.
