Can you shoot 55 grain hollowpoints and milspect FMJs with a 1:8 barrel?

I know that 1:8s are good for long target loads but what about light hunting.self defense loads?

THANKS

Considering that current milspec barrels are 1:7, you'll be fine with 1:8.

I had a RRA DCM rifle and it grouped 4/10 Inch at 100yds using Black Hills 50grain Moly coated ammo.

I do think the twist is fast for that weight but the groups are evidence that it will shoot fine.

I did read the ammo oracle. It merely stated that 1:8 twists were good for target rounds.

Thanks guys for the replies!
