I see that Brownell's carries ASA forged lowers for a fairly decent price. Are they any good, or should I stay away from them?

I just bought an ASA lower from a local gun store that just ordered it through Brownell's. The fit and finish were fine without any adjustments. It doesn't have the exact shade of black that my upper from Model 1 Sales has, but for a savings of $200-$300, I can't complain.

Up until a little over a year ago ASA's uppers and lowers were manufactured by Lewis Machine & Tool. Lewis makes uppers and lowers for the big names in ARs. Lewis sued ASA for non-payment and won a settlement for $20,000 and parted business with them. It's rumored that ASA now gets their uppers and lowers from Rock River Arms. It might be a good deal but having ASA on it will definitely hurt its value. It's hard to give away an ASA rifle here locally. Their reputation is that bad.
