I love the receiver extension on that rig. It almost looks like it’s finished in cork!
Cerakote treads lightly here… if you go a few pages back it was verboten. |

View Quote Theres a reason for that, it’s wrapped in Coyote adhesive Cordura. . It was almost white/raw aluminum looking when it got to me. Lightest “tano” I’ve ever seen in my life. So it’s wrapped until I figure out another solution (whether that be anodizing or Cerakote). I kind of figured it would be verboten but saw some discussion a page or two back, so I decided to jump in. On the flip side, there are a few tano parts lol. T2 on the FAST is just a placeholder while I decide on a mount solution for the ACRO originally on this gun. I have a tanodized B&T QR mount I might give a whirl since I already have it. Only problem is it’s absolute CW, so I’ll need a riser as well. Probably just pick up another FAST Micro as I have already have an adapter plate in hand. |

How do we know they are anodized and not Cerakoted?

I guess I’ll have to buy one and find out…

Anyone have a link to pick up those Scalarworks clear anodized sights?
Don't see them on their site... Thanks |

I’m going to have to send my Kodiak upper back. Barrel nut threads are too tight with various nuts. The PRI tube nut I want to use works fine on other uppers I have around.

I asked Arisaka about getting an FDE 35 degree offset mount and he said Cerakote messes with tolerances, so they’re looking at alternatives to coatings. I’d assume that means tano is inbound but he didn’t say it outright.

I see why Arisaka won’t use Cerakote on their offset MRDS mounts. They use a lug system that’s tighter than hell. I’ll have some low quality tano to add tomorrow and if anyone sees a Steiner MPS in FDE in stock anywhere let me know.

Any see a no-forward assist upper in Tan O? I can’t find one. I don’t understand why CMT would do DRT on their rails but not on their uppers…

I posted this to the Colt Forum but figured y'all are Tan Fans so would share here. Given Colt will do custom runs in factory tan, I reached out to a Colt LE dealer about their interest in doing an order. I was told they weren't planning on doing so, BUT... was asked IF they did which model would be preferred. So with that I told them I would seek opinions from the forums and get back with them. If an order were placed, which Colt model(s) in tan would you prefer be available?

I really dig that color and need to replace the FDE Cerakoted buffer on my gun because it is a pain in the ass moving the stock back and forth. I think the person that coated it went HAF with about five or six coats on that thing. |

The RIS III seems like it would be excellent. I’m a bit concerned as to how well the lower piece of the handguard will withstand a bipod. Was a known issue (bending) with early RIS II handguards with bipods before DD fixed it. There’s significantly less material there on the RIS III although I swapped it out rather hastily at about 0100 last night, so there might be some design features there to prevent the issue that I just missed. Still gonna send it, though, it’s only money lol In better news, it’s actually tano (more like brown-odized?). |
