Lol. I’ve got an old SSA sitting on my table that I just went pulled out of rifle that got a SDC. I’ve been staring at it for a few days thinking, what should I build this trigger into.

View Quote I've seen that done before, almost always by people with impaired vision like older folk and those born that way, wrong prescriptions, etc. I think it has more to do with the nose to CH using the wider peep because they can't see it anymore instead of moving their heads back. Prior service muscle memory perhaps even? |
|
|
Nope, that would be my ignorance.
The difference in the upper/lower is probably lighting. I did not buy them separate. EDIT: Flipping the rear put it in the correct position over the CH. When it folds down now, it comes nearly flush to the rear. Thanks guys! |

Mine has changed… here is the current configuration. Everything I hoped and wished it would be. Taking her to get sighted in and out it through the trial paces.
Factory colt socom upper.. sent it to John Thomas for the pinned SF3P, shaved and refinished fsp, and Geissele rail installation. Big props to him by the way. Aero lower I put together with an SSP, H2 buffer and sprinco blue. Just waiting on my ambi 60 safety and she’s done. Now for my RC2 to come in… Attached File |

I think a general purpose fighting rifle should be able to take a bayonet, which is why I configured it this way. It's on the lighter side, too. It weighs 7 lbs. 14.8 oz. with all accessories pictured other than the bayonet and an empty magazine. |

A standard loadout will more than likely solve most SHTF concepts (riots, civil unrest, natural disaster, unruly mobs, etc) which should be easy enough to stock, even for the exotic or less common calibers. |

Also, that bootleg upper looks really good with that mcmr. I dunno man, I consider some changes to be an evolution in the shooter himself whereas his ride or die adapts with him to these changes. I can tell from that last pic alone it's gotten a few more changes, some function more than form but it is what it is. The switch was moved back a few slots after a night class showed that I was having a weaker thumb placement and not getting good solid contact with it when being used. A suppressor cover was added because damn those things are hot when safety slung. and gnarly to look at but I get it's purpose. Added a flip cover to that Modlite and had to go to another offset mount to get the clearance for that Butler Creek cap to properly function when the 18350 PLHv2 needs to be deployed. That cover solved another problem I wasn't aware about with a potential glare being shown either in the sun or directed light when I don't want to be seen just yet. I can or could go into detail why every change was done, none of which was to make it purty There was weight savings that were more than just negligible with that Bootleg upper in conjunction with that BCM MCMR. |

View Quote I agree with that. The 2 rifles I would grab, have barely changed (short of a suppressor addition), yet my LPVO SBRs have gone through changes. Yeah, better lights have hit the market, but my Surefires still work. I mention the 2, because I have 1 on each floor in case the Russians go Red Dawn whilst I am relaxing downstairs. |
