I recently, picked up a 9" Troy Alpha in FDE from a buddy as a result of some trading. Would the only clone this would work for be an early model FBI HRT clone? Any help/insight is appreciated, would like to use it rather than go through the hassle of selling it.

You could do that with the heavier profile Colt 11.5" barrel
Is anyone looking for a deal on M4 Troy BUIS for one of these? |

Luckily Primary Arms took care of me and I got a front sight fairly quickly. |

Gonna finally build one of these.
The barrel part is most confusing. I want this to be agency coreect. What is clone correct for a Gen 2 ODG rail? Fsp removed vs non fsp, heavy vs standard? |

Isnt the 0.074 gas port + the non ported gas block not clone correct? I was under the assumption 0.074 gas ports were tuned down with the ported gas block. |

View Quote There’s been some debate about that. I was under the impression they were, so I had BRT do a gas port insert to restrict mine to, I think, 0.069. I don’t think BRT offers the insert anymore, but you could get their restricted gas tube. So far mine is functioning great and is very soft shooting, but I don’t have a whole lot of rounds through it yet. |

I'm thinking about building one of these but with a 10.3 barrel
I'm on a 10.3 kick and I really don't care about the 1.2" difference in the barrel length Does anyone know if that is possible or will the raill go past the end of the threads? Eventually I will run it suppressed so I was going to use something like a closed tine Surefire Warcomp If the 10" Gen 2 Federal rail will not work is the 9.3 M-Lok Mk 4 rail the same as the original Gen 1 Federal Rail? |
|

Thanks
What is "Plan B" Can you post a close up of the rail to suppressor transition so I can see the gap? Originally Posted By Winniethepooh: Here’s my 10.5. The plan b tucks under the handguard https://i.imgur.com/xZqryxG.jpg View Quote |

It doesn't look possible to use the 10" Gen 2 Mk 4 Rail with a 10.3 barrel
If you used a 10.5" barrel it looks like it would be super close Since I'm not going for a 100% clone, I think I will just go with the 9.3" Mk 4 Rail I just wish they made the Mlk4 Federal Rail available in the 9.3" length, I like the extended length of the 6 o'clock rail Originally Posted By ducati650: My 10.5" BA 5.56mm barrel and Mk4 9.5" rail. The 10" Federal Mk4 and a 10.3" will not work. I don't think a 10.5 barrel would work unless you used a spacer of some sort and a muzzle device that has a long entry section like some of the Surefire units. See my 14.0" barrel/13.5" rail details below. What I did might work with a 10.5" barrel and 10" rail. Food for thought: Here is a 13.5" Geissele Mk8 rail and a BRT 14.0" barrel ("BRT 14.0" OPTIMUM MPC Barrel , MID Length"). To get it to work and allow my suppressor to mount, required a small spacer. I ended up using 3 of the thick, precision Surefire base washers instead of just the one washer that comes in their shim kit. I then shimmed normally to clock the mount as desired. It works fine, has never worked lose and suppressor alignment with a Geissele test rod was perfect. I needed 3 washers to be able to fit the RC2 with the lock-ring in the open position. Without concerns of fitting the RC2, I think 2 thick washers (or maybe just one) would have been enough. Attached File 3 washers plus normal shims brought the end of the Warcomp flush with the rail. Attached File 3 washers visible. Attached File |

The more I think about the more I think the 9.3 Rail makes more sense with the 10.3 barrel
When I built my URG-I I used the same format Plus it is probably easier to get a blem Mk 4 them a Blem MK 4 Federal rail Originally Posted By ducati650: I would have to agree. Well I was going to wait for the Geissele blem sale until I saw that you get $40 off the Gas Block if you order a rail
So I ended up getting the 9.3" MK4 Rail, Super Gas Block and the Government Charging handle for $304 shipped And I ordered an Expo 10.3” Barrel and the Troy M4 Folding Sights form Primary Arms for $220 shipped |

I only saved these for better images of the Maxim HRT stock which is highly unobtanium. Attached File Attached File Attached File Here’s mine, obviously w/o a Maxim HRT. What kind of accuracy are you guys getting with 11.5 Heavy HRT barrels?
Not gov profile barrels |

Just wondering. I know the 14.5 socom barrels greatly improved accuracy.
Im wondering how much this impacts 11.5 |

I'm quite happy with that, considering the difficulties I have maintaining consistent aim with a red dot. |
