... Did you mount a carry handle on it?
I think it's funny that they designed the entire carry handle for the flat tops when a smaller lmt style makes more sense.

Not anymore, the AG made it clear there are no more "pre bans" and that ARs are just banned from the state, regardless of when they were made.

Massachusetts?  Connecticut's doing 26" AR firearms and pre-ban lowers, I think, but they can't get pre-ban mags.  Massachusetts still gets pre-ban mags?

Pre-'94 AR's remain gtg in MA.  FTF sales of pre 07/20/2016 AR's that are "ban compliant" also continue but are more of a grey area.  FFL's can no longer transfer AR's or AK's that are post-'94.

This was the time frame where I had a company building ARs here in Houston.  Seemed everyone wanted an AR that looked like this:

https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/55187/RFTL-BULL20-494911.JPG

I built hundreds and re-barreled even more...
View Quote
Bull barreled target guns are one of those "neat to have" items until it comes time to drag or carry it further than the car to the shooting bench.  My first build was a 20" very similar to the picture.  i built mine from RRA parts, and run an RRA 2 stage trigger.  My later incarnations of a target/ SPR involve Larue Stealth barrels and MBT 2's.

Am I crazy for considering buying one these days? I’ve been thinking about picking one up, but damn they’re still expensive for just a fixed AR stock.

For some reason, I’ve been jonesing for a fixed stock carbine the last month or so.

Of course, I still like quad rails, so...
View Quote
They’re still damn good stocks, just on the pricy side. I’d pick up one or two if Sully knocked the price down.

I still run one!   Think it balances out well since that is a 16" barrel.
Guess that much of my setup hasn't changed much, /shrug works ok for me.

My first AR back in '03 when I joined here. It's an Eagle Arms lower with a Rock River parts kit, Cavalry Arms C1 Stock, and a Rock River "A3" midlength HBAR carbine upper (in all its AWB glory).  I'm sorry I sold that upper on the EE. It was actually pretty accurate.

Right out of high school in 2002 I “built” my first AR. I used a mega lower, old carbine stock, RRA non-chrome lined HBAR upper, and a YHM fixed BUIS.

I don’t think I was technically AWB compliant (now that I think about it), I didn’t have a threaded muzzle or bayo lug but I did have an adjustable stock.

I probably spend $1,000 building that thing too, and that was a good deal!

A co-worker tried too sell a rifle to my brother that had a set screw muzzle brake.  This was back in 1997.  My brother wanted to test fire it first, and the muzzle brake flew off after a couple of rounds were fired.  He later picked up a Bushmaster A2 clone (w/o muzzle brake and bayo lug) in 1998.
