No loose barrel, no mismatch lower, not beat to shit.    Not seeing a f on the front sight though, should I worry?

There is another thread that addresses the FSBs that Colt is now producing and using. The OP said the representative at Colt said the sight towers are ALL the exact same dimension today whether they are marked with the "F" or not. He further explained only 2 of 6 machines they use to make the towers from casting to finished product are still capable of putting the "F" marking but all of them are the same.

It's a rifle, 20", should not have the F site post.
F is foe carbine, 16" and others.
Nice Colt you have there.

Nice set of rifles. I have nearly identical set of Colt rifles. I'm one of the guys with a new enough A4 with a loose barrel nut. While not pleased about it , colt made me learn how to remove and install , torque properly a barrel and nut  . I didn't send it back, I wanted to do this myself. But I'm going to call Colt and tell them about it so maybe it can be corrected. It has to be a training issues . Its so easy and simple a monkey can be taught to do it. Cheers Wardawg

F is for flat top.  Has nothing to do with barrel length.

Wow, nice collection!  I Like that A2 20 Inch. I have the A2 Sporter H-Bar 20 inch, heavy as heck but fit and finish back then was spectacular.  It's real easy to get hooked on collecting Colt AR's.  I wanted them for shooting but there is something about a Colt that makes them more than just a sum of quality AR parts.  Kinda like Randall knives but don't get me started, lol.

That is odd... it should have the "F" clearly marked on the FSB with it being a Colt flattop upper receiver.

Seems I have been reading that latley some Colt's have been lacking in area's that have been standard for them. I am sure it's fine, but that would bug me if I bought a Colt and it was missing something like that.

No. F has nothing to do with flat top. F is a revision indicator of a change in how the FSB is machined so that the front sight post can be raised 0.040" higher than precious versions. This was done so that the military did not have to keep two different height front sight posts in inventory  (one for rifles, one 0.040" taller for carbines). The F marked style of FSB works with rifles, and carbines, flat tops, and non flat tops. Prior to the standardization of the M4, shorties and carbines had a front sight post 0.040" taller to accommodate the different geometry of the shorter sight radius.
