They also have pistons uppers listed on GB but could you use a standard barrel nut?
Thanks for the heads up on the 10.3" barrels. I noticed that the description said piston, but I figured that they were standard barrels otherwise. These must have been left over from the SCW?

The yellow paint dot on Colt rifles is to show that the gas block has been drilled.
It started after a large shipment of barrels somehow didnt have the port drilled! |

I'm the pic, no barrel index pin and the gas port is visable. That extension almost definitely has a slot on the underside instead. You could buy an already expensive monolithic upper, ship it to Specialized Armament to swap barrels. I just can't justify that for the cost. I'll wait on another Colt run of standard 10.3s. |

big organizations are cost sensitive. If it makes no sense, it was most likely a budget decision. Thick barrels require less milling & are therefore cheaper & quicker to make.

For those od you who orderd from gundeals, how long did it take to ship? Going on a couple days and no info other then processing, and no replys to emails....

I put the wrong address in and use the contact email feature to correct it. I got a response that it has been corrected, whether is has or not who knows.

Bought one off the EE. Soon as I get it, it's going straight to adco to be chopped to 10.3". I needed this barrel like a hole in the head, but as my wife says it's always something ??

I got an email response from gundeals stating their fulfillment center was closed until Tuesday, but they are working on getting some people in there.

I had to buy a second one of these barrels today. It wasn't as cheap as the first but worth it imo. If I had any idea how to share a pic at the moment I would, it would appear ar15.com doesn't host. Sorry I mostly lurk. Either way, I absolutely love the first barrel I bought.

https://www.gundeals.com/colt-government-barrel-w-extension-11-5-5-56-1-7 $150. Cheap if you want one and they actually deliver what they list. My experience has been mixed regarding that. Same people handling the Mexico 6920s. View Quote Link |

These are also on Gun Broker, company called Outdoor Liquidators. Same price, same photos, same P/N, same description as "government." For that price, it's worth a chance so I went ahead and bought one. Link View Quote |

What the hell. Ordered today. We will see what shows up??
(Because I really NEED another AR build going ). |
Received mine, nice barrel. I measured the gas port with a pin gauge set I've got, the .069" pin slipped in, .070" would start in but wouldn't go all the way in.

View Quote Mines supposed to be delivered today, I am hoping it's nice as well.? What are your thoughts on the 0.070 pin gauge? Burr in gas port? |
Yep, Gundeals. Shipped Priority Mail in a bubble mailer bag...
No, I think it's just slightly less than .070" which is no biggie. I will say the top of the gas port (exterior) is beveled, so at first glance it looks Yuge. I'm very happy with the purchase, just need to decide what gas block I want to pin on it now. |
Nice! I had my concerns.
Great price. As for mine? Undecided here. Possibly a pinned A2 fsb or maybe a railed gas block? Good winter project. |
Got mine yesterday (Gun Broker), heavy barrel, gas port pins at .069. Made me so happy I bought a second one.
I plan on having adco chop my fbi barrel to 10.3". Is the .069 port going to be ok running a h2 buffer unsupressed? Or should I get adco to open it to .070? Fwiw I only shoot 5.56 77gr and m855. eTA: it will be suppressed once I save enough pennies for a Surefire Rc.
Should be no problem with 5.56 ammo.
.069" went it freely, .070" wouldn't quite go in, so I'd say it was closer to .0695" which should be no cause for concern. .070" is the Crane spec for the 10.3" MK18 barrels and they have to be able to run suppressed and unsuppressed with 5.56. |
I'll add, the same place has Colt A2 FSBs for $9.99. No mention if they're F marked or basic A2. But still...$10 is a small risk if you're already ordering.
Ordered one earlier in the week, after ordering thought I should have ordered a Colt receiver at the same time, oh well.
I need to look better. I did not see the fsbs or upper receivers.
The receivers are without m4 ramps. They do have what they list as the "piston upper" but I don't know much about it. If you look at the picture, I'm not sure it would stabilize the the gas tube (hole is round and looks larger rather than the supported "X" that's on a DI upper. I ordered the last M4 ramped receiver they had...which was the part I never got (thus my buyer beware warning).
