Was it a LaRue or KAC related spat?

What height scope rings to use with RECCE rail and TS-30 A2? Will be used with SOPMOD stock.

SPR rail specs say it adds .450 to height, so I'm looking at medium high (1" height) Badger Ordnance rings. Or should I go higher?

I used ARMS 22M for my setup. You can get the specs from the 22M and compare them to the Badger.

Neither one of those guys are especially easy to talk to sometimes I can see them butting heads.  I've seen stick post some things that I thought were needlessly harsh, and mark is always in defensive mode.

I've been super impressed with all the salvages I've shot.  Im even thinking of getting an action to build a Grendel on or a shorty .308.  Savages and tikkas are the best things going in my opinion. .320 is more than just the rifle though; there's some skill in those groups

Cool. Everyone likes it high, so I'll do 1.125 with the RECCE rail. I'm thinking of getting the Nightforce Ultralight mounts.

1k was decent today. threw 20 TMK. only 3-4min wind. 43min plus 1.5-1.75mil hold.

the 6.5 bolt Savage really shines. i blew a clay in 2 pieces with it. makes the mk12 look bad but it IS a 16" .223 after all lol

and here we see the Fiocchi box making an appearance LOL

I have an airsoft build. Does that count?

Is the CMMG ambi safety acceptable? I'm guessing any that resembles mil-spec should be fine.

CMMG and the one DSA sell both look pretty close. I'm of the impression the ambi safeties were old Bushmaster or DPMS units, there are NSNs associated with them from the early 2000s and I think they were the same general design as the DSA.

go DSA. i have closeups of a 5th group mod H. even the cap screw is marked the same.

I couldn't find the DSA in stock so I went with CMMG. It looks the same with the centered countersunk hex screw offset lever placement.

All parts are ordered. Just waiting on my barrel to be built.

I have both.  The CMMG is smoother and lighter to maneuver.  The DSA can turn to the Happy switch side.  They both work great.

My wife and I went out after work last night to confirm zero on our hunting rifles and I was able to squeeze off 5 rounds of IMI 69gr out of the Mod H before it got too dark. These are the first 69gr SMK’s I’ve fired. This was off a bipod on a slightly wobbly bench without a sandbag in back. I’m pretty happy given the conditions and haste, should be able to tighten that up at least a little bit on a better platform or while prone. I haven’t measured but it looks to be right at 1 inch.

Thanks buddy. The reason for a lack of rest was that I only had 30 round mags last night and couldn’t get low enough to use my bean bags
Link Posted: 10/10/2017 4:13:12 PM EDT
[#38]
I've never tried this, but I would think if you could set it up right on target, using the bipod plus the mag as a 3rd point would be pretty stable.   I do a lot of shooting using the mag as a monopod though.  But I'll be honest, I'm not anywhere near that good with just using my left hand as a rest underneath the buttstock.  Well, I don't get that good of groups even with my buttstock on a rest.  LOL.  I have only a few times got sub moa with my recce.   I don't handload though.

So....  you're doing something right!!!!!!!

Looking for feedback on the CLE Douglas and Krieger Recon barrels.  Anybody have some results to share?  The Ballistic Advantage bbl is a consistent 1.25 moa performer for me.  This is acceptable, especially given the price point.  Could be the 1/8 as it tends to put rounds where i want them at 2 and 300 yards and it gets me hits on silhouettes at 8 and 900 when I'm on.  Still, it leaves me wanting. Also wondering if the the Krieger is worth the extra 100 bucks or so over the Douglas.

I can’t speak for the CLE Douglas but I do have the HCS Douglas and I’m glad I got it. You can see a group of mine a few posts up, that was with 69gr IMI 5.56 in pretty shitty conditions. It’s under an inch but I haven’t measured it yet. One thing I’ll say is that it took about 200 rounds before the groups improved, and they’ve been improving ever since. It’s a shooter for sure

Get the CLE profiled Douglas.  I have two for my MK12 and have numerous Douglas barrels for my service rifles.  Frank and company are top notched.

Had a great day at the range today.  20-35 mph crosswind (typical Oklahoma fall or spring weather) & 8" gongs out to 500meters.

Missed the first two at 500m then looked at the windsock and realized it was going the opposite direction than the shooting position, made the adjustment then zapped the gong 5 strait.

I keep waiting for this cle barrel to fall off (I'm at 3280 round count) so I can put on a new Bison barrel but it just keeps on chugging along.

This setup with this 1-8.5 power scope is perfect for me.  I don't miss the mk4 mil holdovers at all
