Thanks for the compliments - I haven't painted that many rifles, those are #1 and #3 in that pattern, as I just did the Noveske / Nightforce combo this spring. Here in the FL Panhandle, the humidity / weather limits the useful painting season to around 2-4 weeks in the spring and then again in the fall - otherwise it's too cold / too hot / too humid for it to be worth the effort. I'm sure a pro can paint year around but all I have is my back porch and yard, lol - so the elements are a definite factor.  I have gotten rifles ready to paint before and then abandoned the attempt when the rainy season started early.

The scheme is my take on Multicam Tropic and the paint is (in order) Aervoe Light Green (AE951 base coat, all over), then add Woodland Green (AE990), Earth Brown (AE999), and finally Sand (AE977). I have used the same self made stencils out of poster board that I just hold up to the rifle or magazines (I have about 20 AR mags painted as well). The key I have found is to let the paint really dry, so for me it takes about a 4-8 days do a rifle after taping off the parts I want covered. Sometimes less if the sun is out and I can safely leave it out to cure faster.

No special prep other than taping off with painters tape what I want covered - no degreasing or anything like that. For the optic covers, scope turrets, and WML heads I tape completely and then finish it with paint dabbed on a sponge to just break up the area.

This was all trial and error on my sons airsoft rifles and then a MP-15/22. I thought hard about getting a professional job but when you add up shipping both ways and the work, that much coin can keep me in Aervoe for the next 30-50 years. Plus I figure if I ever ended up somewhere other than the south, I'd need a different scheme so why the foook not DITY.

Some more pic for a pic thread.  Workhorse Aimpoint Pro (around 8-9 years old) in a relatively new Geissele mount, also an ACH in there as well.

I assume that's a SBA3 brace in FDE? Where is the pistol grip from? It looks like an FN that came on my SCAR. Good match color wise.

Yep, standard G ODG. There’s some slight variance between the upper and lower, but not too bad. The FDE accents really help to bring the color out.

Thanks! The QD is a Strike Industries angled QD mount. I like it so far. Unobtrusive and the angle makes insertion and removal of the swivel a little easier.

Nice. I'm patiently waiting on my BO 1.7" Tan COMM mount. I really wanted 1.93", but they're nowhere to be found.

So what is the device going from the mag release to the bolt catch on the left side of the gun. Is that some kind of way to use the mag release as a bolt hold open device?

Who makes it? And how does it work?

Edit to add. I think is see now. It’s not bolt hold open. It’s bolt release with the mag release

Thank you Sir.

I love the 1.70". Not too high for shooting prone, but high enough you don't have to bury your face in the stock.

Looks like a redi-catch. Allows you to lock the bolt back without having to take your hand off the fire controls. Just depress magazine release and rack the charging handle rearward.

I use them on almost all of my rifles. I think for the money they're pretty nice. It's nice that with the front sight you have the ability to have a very narrow sight post if you'd like, or the standard post. Easily adjustable and comes that way out of the box.
