Molon the NXS looks great on that rifle.
Emtothedee, you're right. the TA11 and 2.5-10x 24 are very different scopes (I've got the Eotech to play with too). I'm new to short barrels having just fled to free America. I just started shooting the 6 ARC 108 ELDM's in an 18" AR and love the increase in energy and distance with no loss of barrel life or discernible recoil increase. This caliber is really making me rethink my AR's. It will be hard to pull the NXS x24 off the NSW Block II but this little project may be too fun to pass up. Big thanks to everyone on the thread for the ideas and inspiration! |

I’m using a Seekins low-profile adjustable gas block. It’s close but it clears the Mk16 rail. |

Originally Posted By emtothedee: Which optic is the better performer? We already know which one is sexier View Quote Kind of a tough question. I have about 20 minutes in the garage with the Razor after getting it mounted. I will say that the eye box on 1x and 8x is slightly better on the S&B and I think 10x on the Razor is going to take a little getting used to. Is the glass better on the S&B? Yes. Is it $2000 better? Maybe not. The dual cc is cool, but since I hold over and don’t dial, having the dot in the SFP isn’t all that useful. The dual cc illumination is good, but the Razor is brighter. I like a fine reticle- especially the center dot, so slight edge to the S&B. But you also don’t have any really visible reticle on 1x if your battery dies either. At least the Razor has the T that you could use in a pinch. The locking turrets on the dual cc are nice, but again, if you hold over they’re not a real advantage over capped ones. And no off positions on illumination on the S&B. And the throw lever for the Schmidt costs like $100. Let’s be honest, the S&B wins in some categories, but overall there’s really no way I would say it “wins.” I mean, really, for less than half the cost of the Schmidt, you really get everything you need in a nice durable package. Would I sell my 1-8x to buy another Razor? No. But only because I would lose too much money. |

Depending on how the URX4 aligns close to the receiver, the area that needs drilled and welded is often UNDER the handguard, and with the URX4, you cannot install the warcomp until AFTER the URX4 in installed. In the least you'll need to stack extra shims under the mount to get access, then you get people bitching that there are too many shims. It's not worth the risk of more people getting upset and posting 12X zoom pics stacks of shims. |

The URX4 is my favorite handguard but it’s the worst possible choice with a pinned muzzle device.

I was more frustrated that I had spent the money on the parts because I had seen it done before only to find out it may not be offered anymore. But I’m all squared away now. I get that shims can be unsightly, but I don’t understand all the fuss over them. I do understand how it isn’t worth the negative press to keep doing it if people are going to complain. |

I probably dropped about 500 rounds at the range today. The more I run this nx8 with a 1.93 the more in love with it I get. |
