Friends don't let friends buy from CCC. I bought a DD carrier group from them and it took them two + weeks to ship it. I literally lived a few miles away...they coulda thrown it to me across the Potomac River

Slick side 2055 Al–Li upper on a partial MK18 clone... yes or no?

Have one siting around, wondering if I should just get an M4 upper instead for it to "look" correct.

Not entirely true; there have been tanodized KAC rears made, but they are extremely rare. Most likely if you see one and don't trust the source, they're probably airsoft as you said. But...

I stand corrected! Have never seen that before. Funny how this now potentially explains why the airsoft versions are colored that way.

Ya, it's sorta like the 99051 airsoft copies with the circular hole in the frame and a flat face on the sight tower. It's actually based on the very early and real version of the 99051, but many people have incorrectly assumed it was just an "airsoft fake" type thing.

Kinda funny the weird things the airsoft companies get their hands on to copy; sometimes copying stuff so rare it isn't readily apparent it was based on a real product, lol.

If I use a slot I'll take one triglide slide off, run the sling through the slot in the stock, loop the sling through the triglide and back out the same hole in the stock then through the triglide that I left on the sling for length adjustment.

Off Topic and if this isn't allowed I understand, but any of you watching Seal Team (CBS)?
There have been a couple MK18s on there but the actual team uses 416s primarily.
It gives me the cloner sweats watching the show because I'd like all of those good looking guns and you see them in pretty good (fictional) use.
For a gear junkie it's a pretty good show.

I haven’t seen any mk18s on there.  Do you know which episodes by chance?  All I’ve seen is 416s and I’ve noticed they are all running 14.5s on the newest episodes. Found that interesting being the legit producers they have.

That website that tells firearms used in movies and tv shows listed MK18 in season three, I do remember that specifically.  It has the specific episode.  It wasn't by the main team though.

I do that when I can on a stock.  In general use I find that the further that sling-like substances stay away from the toe of the stock the more harmonious life is.

Pic thread.

Got my SBR lower set up for the MK18 to live on. Sling attachments installed and vickers sling in the mail.

Now I just need my RC to get released from jail and I’ll be all set.

Not completely sold on the N1 stock though.

Oh I painted it too!

Need some help defining what I have here.

I picked up an upper that is completely unmarked except for the (BI) on the FSB.

Barrel looks to be around 10.5 inches, A2 upper with an A1 forward assist. I cannot locate the barrel twist rate or caliber markings anywhere either.

Also looking to replace the standard carbine handguards with either a FF or railed option, but one that would keep with the retro aesthetic.

Depends... are you cloning one of the Mk18s that came with an M16A1 lower? Both A1 and A2 (M4A1) lowers were used. In other words, A1 lower, A1 grip; A2 lower, A2 grip.

I searched the EE for “A1 grip” and found nothing. Honestly this site’s search feature is pretty lacking.

Stay away from retrorifles.

Fulton has a very good repro A1 grip, the closest to a real A1, the Brownells retro grip doesn't look right, or keep searching for a real one.
