Edit: To summarize all that clone babble, lol... as long as you land somewhere between 10.70" and 10.75" OAL with a 10.35" measurement from the bolt face, you'll be good Tig.

I'd probably go for the DD measurement of 10.72" if you're going to use it with a RIS II -- that'll give you a shoulder that lines up perfectly with the end of the rail.

I should point out (and should've done so on the drawing) that the update was based on a factory Colt 10.3" and some measurements taken by CD -- but it's worth mentioning that DD barrels are a bit shorter and Crane cutdowns might be as well. There was a whole discussion about it, but I can't recall all the details.

To cover all the bases, here is an updated drawing based on the further discussion (I can't find the original drawing from pezboytate or I'd post that as well):

Edit: Nm, found it.

My FN SOCOM was the shortest I measured at 10.700" OAL, the DD's I measured were at 10.720" OAL.

I haven't measured any CRANE cut down barrels.

I haven't seen any evidence Colt 10.3"s were issued, but they were longer than the DD FWIW.

Nice. You guys are beyond helpful, as usual.  Very much appreciated. Plan is a RAS drop in so far but we all know how plans can go.

My DD barrel is actually a little shorter then the RIS II rail.

What optic mount is that?

Since I now have a TNV/PVS-14 and Surefire M640V, picking up a laser was the next logical step. My budget didn't allow for a full-power PEQ-15, so the civvy one will have to do. Running the device all the way forward seems like the most logical and ergonomic approach though I'll miss having my taupe KAC legacy front folding sight on my rail which helped complete the build. Alas, I'll tuck it away in my clone parts pile. Looking forward to getting this out and dialing it in.

Whoops. Thanks for the correction. I did a search before I posted it, and there must be a lot of gen2’s mislabeled as gen1. Is the difference between a gen 1 and 2 the mount, the battery cover and the ability to mount an mrds?

Cool. When I typed in gen 1, a couple of different gen 2's popped up that were labeled as gen 1. One was an old ad from snipers hide.

Looks like his hand stop is as far forward as it can go. I wonder if he grips it behind the hand stop or not?

Not quite clone correct anymore, but since I sold my b.e. Meyers 249f and since I don't have a corncob, I wanted another host for my rc so I put a closed tine flash hider on this build.

LAW folder is part of the URGI which at the time was only a 14.5" upper.  10.3" URG uppers still used the same shared lower.  This is why you see them on BLK II 10.3".  Now once they are in the system, Groups can put them on URGs that are still carried by support personal or other positions that didn't get the URGI upper.  IE not every M4A1 in a SFGA got the URGI upper.

Thanks. Not for this thread, but now I also need a G 14.5” URG-I. Great.

Question number two, and I don’t mean this to cause controversy, but how accurate are the coyote SOPMOD stocks? They do look great, but would an FDE-painted black stock me more ‘authentic’?

Tan/ coyote/ taupe (whatever they call it) LMT gen 1 sopmods were issued.

However, personal stocks have been used.

Trying to decide if I should throw a surefire FH or brake on the EOD clone. I don't think they ever ran suppressed during the time this setup was in use though. And if they did, they likely would have used a kac or the legacy surefire. Anyone know if suppressors were ever used on eod cqbr's during the time period this setup was in use?

Not too much more than factory 77 grainers in the current market. for whatever reason the online groups seem to be flooded with it for reasonable prices. it's still the shoot a few for giggles and stash the rest type.

@Combat_Diver

Was the surfire RC ever issued with the mod 0/cqbr?

I'm getting ready to do my first forms 1 and 4. Was thinking about getting a socom rc2, it is going to be used on a couple different rifles. One will be the form 1 mk18 mod 0.
The kac is a little bit out of my price range, but maybe I can swing it? But availability seems to be another issue.

Maybe someone can help me here.

I seem to remember some discussion in one of the clone threads about sending salty, used Elcans in for repairs.

Apparently my google-fu sucks and no amount of word salad brings the boys to the yard when trying to find where this was discussed.

Anybody happen to remember this and know where I might find these discussions?

Contact Armament Tech. They will send you a label, you ship it to Canada, they fix it for I think $250?, and they'll send it back to you. I don't think they'll confiscate if it's an SU-230 either.
