Very Nice!  Did you use a 14.5" Larue Stealth or something else?  I've been debating whether or not to send my 16" PtAR to ADCO for a 14.5" chop / pin&weld for my Stealth 2.0 build...decisions, decisions

None of these were actual 14.5" barrels - they were:

- Top, pinned and welded directly by FN I believe a 14.something barrel and bottom, 16" Colt barrel cut, pinned and welded by Special Armament Warehouse. Love these two anyways.

Sorry for the crappy phone pic.  The Socom barrel makes it a little heavy, but I love it.

Apologies for the 'tater pic.......

The barrel is a 14.7 CHF FN 1/7 SOCOM profile pinned at ADCO............ a little piggish but the bipod is coming off after it gets sighted in w/t acog since I swapped it out and put the TA31 M4 RCO on my Block I clone.

This rifle was redone yesterday as I swapped the URX3 Rifle Handguard off it and installed the URX2 10.75" over the KAC SR-15 M4 barrel.  It also has a KAC Aimpoint 30mm mount, 300m rear sight, 2 taupe VB 11-rib panels, and a KAC A2 taupe grip.

The SR-15 M4 barrel was purchased from Geno a while ago and cut to 14.5" and the YHM QD Brake pinned and welded.

Recently took the Acog from my 20" and put it on my 14.5" but haven't shot it yet. Eye relief seems okay with the ntch technique

If not, guess I'll take the buis off and move the optic back.

Perfect KISS carbine. The A1/A2 upper with M4 barrel is a great combo. Now try a fixed, A1 stock on it, with a GP style field-expedient sling.... fantastic.

Nice work converting it to A1 specs. Kudos. That's what everyone was doing before new A1 spec lowers were available. A lot of work, which is why I never did it!

thank you sir

it didn't seem like too hard of a project when i started it but it's amazing how many hours went into putting that gun together.

an a1 stock would probably balance it out nice.  it's a bit front heavy with the m4 barrel compared to my pencil barrel builds.

it turned out to be a fantastic shooter so all the time put into it was worth it

I wasn't a fan of fixed stock carbines at first  - they always looked weird to me. Then I tried an A1 stock on one, because I was waiting for a tube, and WOW - I loved the way it handled. THe GP sling is simply the fastest sling out there, IMO, great for transitioning to pistol, you can hasty sling it easily when set up right, or the weapon can be slung around back from assault carry so you can climb or work with your hands. Unless you are wearing armor, I think the A1 stock is the answer.

Rustoleum brown/tan/light green on top of Krylon medium green/tan/brown. The base color is tan, with laundry bag mesh in between coats for a bit of texture. Rustoleum doesn't adhere as strongly as Krylon and starts to show wear pretty quickly. Like Finslayer83, from whom I bought the rifle several years ago, I've mostly gone away from using green on a rifle anymore. I don't think I'm going to repaint this rifle, as I like the way it looks now.

Add lots of handling and heat, helped along by a green Brillo pad in a few spots.

I don't love the stepped M4 barrel, but I have an A2 upper, and feel compelled to make a 727 clone. I think the M4 looks best with classic carbine funiture. DSA just got the barrel I needed back in stock so we're off and running!

Mock up before final.

If what you decide isn't exactly right, un-pin the muzzle device.

Or, build another.
