*IF* I were to decide to let my 14.5" Colt SOCOM barrel go, would anyone be interested in it?

It has a pinned Dead Air flash hider, FSB is shaved, round count is exactly 30. I want to lose some weight

I always match the bolt to the barrel. If the barrel goes, so does the bolt.

Anyone want to take stab at guessing what height rings this might be? (1.5/1.375?)
Only pic I could find of a B2 in this configuration.
Eta: Ended up going with 1.375 rings.
From my understanding the rifle shown is from NSW. Their recce builds typically sport 1.375 ring setups going by the Nsw thread. Made the decision easier.

I finally got my Eotech in the other day after playing tag with the UPS guy. I switched to the TD stubby grip.

Those could be 1.375s. Kind of hard to tell.

Here are 1.375s on my SCAR (not the best comparison, but the ocular lens part of the NF 2.5-10x32 should match that of the pictured x24, and their height off the top rail looks similar):

I appreciate that. I know looking at a pic is throwing dice.
With how Nsw recces are typically known for having 1.375s, it made it easier to pull the trigger. I just picked up the rings and hopefully will have a functional build by next week.

Those Insight mrds mounts are crazy hard to find, good for you man.

What rail QD mount is that? Thinking of taking the CQD off for now and adding a regular QD on mine.

Lol it's an oldie man. Dated back in 2004 from the NF rep.
Just need to get used to Mildot and Moa turrets.

You humble yourself though, I've seen some of the builds you put in the clone threads. Definitely cooler on your side of the field.

Full length.

Stubby’s are much more comfortable, I used them more as a hand stop then a vg.

I had a QD stubbie and loved the look and build quality but it was not comfortable at all so I ended up swapping it out for a magpul AFG.

I think I may try one of the non-QD full lengths in the future.

I use a vfg in the same way. Half my hand on the rail and half on the vfg. I have not tried a stubby so not sure how that would feel, but I absolutely hate angled grips.

Would heat generated on the front sight block ever be able to damage the cord from your SR07? I ask because I'm considering a similar setup.

So far I haven't had any issues, but I'm not doing mag dumps either.  I imagine if you fired 4-5 mags in quick succession, it might start to melt the plastic a little, but I'm usually just firing quick pairs or single shots, and if I am firing quickly, it's not more than 2-3 mags.

So I guess it really depends on how you plan to use it.

Just picked these up from Thoroughbred Armament. Always wanted a FSP Block II. Pretty dark but it's a crap shoot as usual. Sealed in the mil-spec foil bag, never know what you'll get! Debating on FDE or black furniture. I have a Colt CAGE code upper I'll use for this. Not period correct but it is Colt. Undecided on optic. Been hoping to find a NIB 553 in FDE. This is how it starts, "so I bought this rail..."

Nice.  Thats how it started for me.  The rail, then the tan EXPS3-0, then the Colt code cage upper, then the FN SOCOM barrel.... I'm going dark FDE, have a coyote B5 SOPMOD so far.

Depends entirely on the unit and organization you're referring to. MARSOC? Zero. Rangers? Same. SEALs? Likely none. SF? Split by some margin, CD would have more up to date info on that. A heaping amount of them are being converted into URG-I's so keep that in mind also.

Before URG-I, what was the split? Not really asking about any particular unit, just wondering if one was more common in SF community.

Would depend on the SF Group.  Several were nearly all FSB and others opposite.  Now the majority of URGs in SF Groups have been replaced by the URGI.  Those remaining are being used by others besides on ODAs.  URGIs got pushed only to ODAs, not every 18 series got one.  So if you were slotted up to BN/GP staff, B/C team no URGI for you.  18 series in PsyOps/CA/MISG/SWC/USASOC HQ nope.  Range 37 did get some at SWC however.  Other positions would still use the URG or M4A1 MWS/BLK I.
