How louder is the PWS556 over say a stock A2 FH? This will be out of a 20" barrel.

Never seen one in action, just asking.

I have these on 14.5" and 16" barrels and would rate the noise as a bit louder than the standard A2. In the ban states like NY, I'd rate the FSC556 as one of the best, if not the best choice among the other muzzle brakes out there for (perceived) noise levels.

Better than the Surefire MB556K?

Thanks

Noise-wise, I'd rate the SF as louder than the FSC556. One of the days I'm going to grab a decibel meter and measure these things.

Are there any reports of accuracy loss from this unit at longer ranges 400-600yds?

I disagree.

I have a 14.5" with FSC556, I was shooting next to a pillar that held up the roof of the range and the percussion of the round almost knocked my brain loose. Shooting it in the open wasn't bad, but its still noticeably more than "a bit louder" than an A2 FH.

Is there any accuracy loss that anyone has noticed?

On my WOA 20" SDM barrel, the PWS is more accurate than an A2 and on par with a Vortex. A little louder than an A2. It's a good unit.

Good to know. That's about the same barrel im using (BCM 20" SS410 SAM-R) for all intents and purposes, as well as design.

Thanks

I can't shoot the PWS556 in the open without ear muffs. Painfully loud.

Nope

It's noticeably louder than an A2, but I've noticed in my time that all guns are loud, and proper ear protection is the key. I've shot with a FSC556 indoors against concrete walls in matches and, once again, proper ear protection was the key.

Thanks, I was planning on using one on my 18" WOA SPR barrel.

I've personally felt that the PWS was louder than my MB556AR.

The PWS is definitely louder indoors than the SF. I've gone through most comps, and I took the PWS off of the SCAR and replaced it with a BattleComp, which throws noise downrange and keeps the barrel just as level as a PWS. The only downside to the BattleComp is that you cannot use SinterFire in it, if your dept. trains with frangible. Otherwise it is just as good as the KAC comp at 1/3 the price. Good shooting.

I've got a PWS FSC30 for my 16" Noveske/MEGA 308 build.

I'm pretty much expecting that thing to rock the earth when it shoots, but I'll take it over the 308 recoil - this'll be a very light build too.

I agree completely. The FSC was the best device I used when I lived in NY.

I have one on my 18" rifle length spr build and love it. It WAS loud on my 11.5" sbr but its not too bad on the longer barrels. I only shoot outside though.
