Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Slightly confused about m4 uppers and regular ar uppers....

Please pardon my ignorance:-(

so Im building a 16" rifle...plan on ordering a yhm barrel which has m4 feed ramps?  But I see these uppers being sold with m4 ramps and some without?  Also see m4 barrel extensions....

What do I need or should get?  Why would one need an m4 barrel extension?  So very confused right now!

M4 feed ramps are extended compared to the Rifle feed ramps to enhance feeding during automatic use.

M4 cut with M4 extension will be the best.
M4 cut with Rifle upper is suppose to be acceptable.

The extension is on the barrel.

So why do they sell extensions when they are already on the barrel you order?
