Anyone have a source for a complete IDF style upper.

A1 upper with 14.5"/14.7" barrel, pencil or M4 profile and pinned A1/A2 FH?

Thanks

Picking up a Colt 6920 with 16" barrel.  Id like to change the barrel to a 14.5.  Will the 14.5 socom barrel fit under the stock handguard?

Question for the M21 on gooseneck mount crowd (A1/A2 master race); when looking down the sight, is it absolute co-witness? Or are you looking over the rear sight?
Link Posted: 10/20/2022 2:05:29 AM EDT
[#15]
Both.

If you use the large rear aperture the center dot sits on top of the front sight post. If you look over the rear aperture it's a stand alone style RDS.

IMO the best reticle is the triangle option or the 4.3 moa dot. The circle dot sucks because the circle is too thick.

If you zero the tip of the triangle or 4.3 dot at 200 yards or meters you will have a fast and accurate quality RDS.

[#16]
If you use a flat top upper with a flip down BUIS the rear sight won't be in your way at all.
Link Posted: 10/20/2022 10:13:51 AM EDT
[#17]
Cool. I have a C7 upper midlength BCM that needs an optic, but I don't want one sitting on top of the handle. I also don't like co-witnissing reticles through the rear sight. Sounds like the M21 with gooseneck will be a good option.

There's sure a lot of dead pics in this thread.  I had to fix two of mine.

733 clone and an A1/2 DISSY. ABOUT as KISS as I can get. Haven't decided if the dissy will stay on an A1 stock or go back to a collapsible.

Quick question; I need an A2-type SH for my BA 11.5".  I know they're cheap, but are there any that are better than others?  Im looking at the NBS nitrided...

My current oldest KISS AR rifle 1993 Colt R6830 Sporter Lightweight cal. 7.62X39 which I replaced the factory fixed A2 stock with mil-spec collapsible buffer tube, H2 buffer and B5 Systems CAR-15 mil-spec (Colt FiberLite type) carbine stock.

the first one is surely KISS, the next 2 depends on your idea of what Kiss is lol. but for me just 1 optic and possibly a flashlight is Kiss, since most of my other rifles have lights, IR lasers, switches, grips, buis, mpvo/lpvo with red dot, thermal, etc. so these are Kiss from my perspective

Here is a quick shot of my KISS rifle...

It's a mash-up inspired by the CAR-15, XM177, GAU-5/A and the IDF carry handle rifles. I built this mostly from the parts bin, here are the highlights.

80% A3 upper/lower, Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises mark
Teardrop Forward Assist
Rock River Arms Tac Mount Rail assembly w/A2 rear sight (gives it that carry handle vibe)
3.5” Moderator Flash Hider
CrossTac Front Sight Picatinny Rail
Colt CAR stock with Pachmayr 500B pad mod
StreamLight ProTac Rail Mount Weapon Light with Remote Switch
ZAHAL 2 Point IDF Sling

It has a mil-spec trigger which isn't anything special. Shoots pretty good with the 11-ish" barrel, at least to 100~150 yards and irons. I'd love the get the Meprolight M21 for more IDF style but the optic is more than what I had to buy to complete the rifle after scouring the parts bins.

Anyone have a pdf copy of the IDF TA31i manual? I used to have the maintenance version, but cannot fond it on any of my hard dives. I’m also looking for the operators manual if anyone has a copy. Thank you,

William

Some of the H&R offerings by PSA would be perfect for a IDF KISS clone. Got a M16A1 carbine stock lower enroute!

That's what I ended up doing.  Pencil barreled slick side 654.  Not really an IDF clone, but more going for that 90's carry handle red dot aesthetic.

So on top of the 733 and dissy I posted earlier, this is also in the works

This will bring me to 3 KISS and 4 more modern setups...

That M4 has some interesting features for a flattop.  Teardrop FA and the Slip ring (instead of a delta ring) being two of them....
