This is my humble take on the Recce style rifle... She's quite accurate with anything 69-77 grain pill and weighs in at 10.0 on the nose. It's surprisingly balanced as well. This was my 2nd AR I bought/assembled 13 years ago after my Colt A2... It's still a very good "Recce" and loves everything from 69 grain Prvi Partizan, all IMI's OTM offerings, and especially Fiocchi's 75grain SMK's loaded to .223 specs...

I have a few questions about the Ballistic Advantage Mod Holland barrels (https://ballisticadvantage.com/16-inch-223-wylde-spr-mid-length-ss-premium-barrel.html) that seem to be popular around here. First off, are they dimpled from factory or do I need to do that myself? Second are they still profiled for an AEM5 collar or no?

Since this is a pic thread (shes a bit long for a RECCE but that's soon to change)

The 16" Premium Tactical Government profile are the Ops Inc profiled ones. Their 16" SPR barrels are not set up for the 12th Model/AEM5.

Mine wasn't dimpled as far as I remember, I just went and bought an SLR dimple jig since I figured I'd be doing plenty of building.

Thanks for the answers. Lack of dimpling is no big deal. But I was hoping to get the SPR profile with the Ops profile. Looks like I am in for a tough decision. Any recommendations on which way to go?

@ARgunner0210

Bison Armory,  for about 200 bucks They're in a similar price point to the Ballistic Advantage, and are known to shoot great.

I took the plunge and purchases a PRI Mk12 Mod H barrel and installed that in my RECCE. Still needs an Ops Collar and AEM 5 but its 99% of the way to where I want it.

Looks like this one belong here now, as my 14.5" Mini Recce grew up a bit with a new 16" upper. I'm pretty proud of the results and had alot of fun putting it together. Definitely unlike anything else I've built, let alone seen before. This is my futuristic recce build. Kind of a modernized take on the SPR. You can see the progression for the the FSB rail mods in the following threads:

Centurion Modular Rail (CMR) info and picture thread (add your pics!!)

- Primary Weapons System PWS FSC556 muzzle device
- Modified Centurion Arms 14.25" CMR Rail with midlength FSB cutout
- Modified OD green CMR covers, handstop, and Magpul M-LOK MVG
- Arisaka CMR offset rail mount
- Inforce WMLx (IR version)
- Modified KAC M-LOK rail sections
- Harris/Larue BRM-S and LT706 QD Swivel Mount Combo with added KMW Pod-Loc
- Magpul MBUS Pro LR rear sight
- Larue SPR-E mount

@Real_Payne

It does okay, more candela would be nice. It seems to have lots of spill when scanning a field, not a great hot spot when on 6-8x trying to get positive ID. The x300 on my handgun was actually about the same last time I was hunting hogs. HLX had been used for a while though so the 18650 wasn’t fresh.

Pic thread: hog hunting before I stripped the paint.

They’re pretty close to being twins, at least until you swap the x24 for an ATACR 4-16.

I'm starting to lean more towards the Mk8. I wanna be able to smash up close as well as out to a klick. With the ATACR, I'd hafta piggyback a T1; all that gets heavy.

I get it, its a tough decision, my emc doesn’t know what it wants to be. The Mk8 is big and heavy too, same size and weight as the mk6 3-18x(ATACR 4-16 a few more oz) plus the Aimpoint does add weight and isn’t going to be as good at a 1x mounted traditionally. I just ordered some blasting ammo(only have m118lr) to try my newly acquired NX8 on the SR25 and an Aimpoint T2. The biggest problem with one of these setups is how accurate the rifle is, I feel like the sub MOA accuracy is wasted with a LPVO or red dot. Part of me wants to say weight be damned and get a 6.5-20x Mk4 or throw my wallet at a S&B but I also feel like the 1-8x ATACR might be a better option and complement to my SR15 NX8 setup.

This feels pretty nice....
