Gun made of hard plastic. Barrel looks to be real. A-1 flash hidder.

kinda looks like the ASP gun or a Rings gun but painted black. I know Rings Blue guns use sling rings and such on theirs.

Those were used in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M by some of the units. They look and feel very real! For $25, it's a steal!

I usually see them in the $125-150 range, and usually in brutal condition.

I bought one for $65 or $85, can't remember which of those two figures. Definately would not sell it for less than $87. It's got good balance and the barrel is Colt. (ETA, mine has the pencil profile barrel if that makes any sense) You done good, I'd have picked it up for $25.

ya ours are suprizingly realistic they have metal barrels (some gov't a2's and some a1's w/pencil) but ours dont have sights.

He said the barrel looked real, I took that to mean it was a metal barrel.

+1 on the "Rubber Duck", We were issued them when we spent a week in the field for AIT. Once we got in the field we turned in our M16A1s for the Rubber Ducks as we'd be doing no more 'tactical/shooter' stuff for the week.

We even pulled guard duty with the things

We used to use them while practicing raids or surf breaks in the IRBs "Zodiacs"
Or when doing Hydrographic surveys.

I should have went in to more detail about the barrel. Yes the barrel and front sight tower are metal and it looks like it has rifling. The weight = the weight of a real rifle

Thanks for all the information.

How makes the M16 training rilfes?
where can I pick up another one?

Guy I bought it from said he would bring to the show for me next time a M60 and a SAW that was made the same way as the M16.

Did they make a SAW and M-60 training guns. If so
who made them?
What should I offer him?

Yep, used for training. We used them almost for all land nav tests. It was cool to see all the stuff soldiers carved in them over the years. "Hot chow" ,"embrace the suck", things like that. Lord knows how old those things were, but they looked like they'd been used and abused for a good 20 years.

The only time we used them in my unit was for CWST's. 3 meter blind drop....ah the memories.

No reason to subject the real ones to the water just for that.

Ah yes, the CWST, just did that a few weeks ago and the rubber ducks were used extensively for that.

I've also seen rubber duckies that had large fragments of actual M16 upper receiver molded into them along with the barrel -- they appeared to be the remnants of KB'ed rifles. The rest simply appeared to be made from shot-out barrels. I've seen A1 and A2 style duckies.

I recall my personal rubber ducky had a 3-prong on it, made it easier to spot "mine".

Every rubber duck I've ever seen is made of a real M16 barrel and front sight base. Some also have a complete upper receiver minus the bolt and carrier of course. The barrels are shot out, worthless pieces of junk.

I have seen two types of rubber duckies, a friend of mine has one with real parts all forward of the reciever, including gas tube, barrel nut, real A1 handguards etc.. The ones we have up here have molded on handguards over the bbl.

The ruber duckies we had in Tanker training were real barrels/FSB's and the rest was some hard Resin! beat the hell out of the little dummie on the bayo course. those things are rock solid.

Haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Ours were all one solid piece of a plastic/rubber? and definitely heavier than our M16's. Most of ours were three prongers too. Detail was excellent, but no moving parts. We only used them a few times in boot camp, but when they issued them you knew you were about to go through some sh*t.

I have an A1 version with the 3-prong. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

I found out about it talking to a martial arts guy I know. I was telling him about the blue guns they have for training, and he mentioned that he had one, only it was black. He wanted $35 for it.

I've been issued tons of different rubber ducks.

M16A1
M16A2
M4
CAR15 w/ HBAR
CAR15 w/ skinny barrel

Lots of different barrel manufacturers too. I'm pretty sure all the resin lowers were marked with various Colt's stampings.

Man, I always wanted to get my hands on one of them. You could beat the living snot out of them and they's still look great. Make for a great wall hanger, that's for sure.
