When parts from a weapon are changed, and a style is born of which there is no proper designation, and/ or no factory configuration, its a parts gun. Its not an insult in the least. In general the weapon holds a lesser value as soon as it leaves its original factory state.
I've got a few Colts that are parts guns, it doesn't lessen the quality.
Once you are on the board for awhile, I think you will find that many, if not most serious shooters here are running at least one altered weapon/ parts gun.
In short, enjoy your new carbine, your opinion of it is the only one that matters.
Both of these are "parts guns", it doesn't change anything for me.
