Would you guys comment on this caliber and the AR platform. Relibility/functioning problems with Russian ammo? Accuracy out to 100 yds? Any manufacturer(s) to avoid? Your input is greatly appreciated because I'm considering purchasing or trading for an upper.

Accuracy is decent, mine is a Model 1 upper and shoots 1.75"-2.5" at 100 yards. Mags are the problem. There are a fare amount of 10 round mags that work just fine but there is only one type of high capacity mag that works. Referred to as a Frankenmag. The top half is AR15 but the bottom half is AK47. They are out there but command a premium price, $45-$75. They come in 20 and 30 rd. It has been reported that another company is planning on making these but no new ones on the market at this time.

I like mine as it doubles as a deer gun. I managed to aquire about 5 20rd Frankenmags before the '94 ban when the prices were low.
