Does anyone recommend treating the surface of the barrel, the part that is underneath a FF Rail? My buddy has a DD and the surface of the barrel under it is pretty bad looking. Looks almost like rust and its a b***h to clean under the FF Rail.

Any suggestions on a treatment to the barrel that could limit this?

Duracoat?
Teflon Moly?

Thanks.

I coat mine with Norrells, and never have any problems.

You do that once or as part of your typical cleaning/maintenance? Thanks.

Norrels is a heat cure paint- one time application, pretty much like gunkote. I personally use gunkote. I've heard people use ceramic paint for engines/headers with good results. Ceramic dissapates heat better than normal paint so ive heard- you can find it at walmart.

YMMV
