Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 2 Stage trigger question

I have shot alot of M16/M4 and was wondering what is the diference from a "regular" trigger and a 2 stage trigger? From what I can gather the 2 stage is better for competition. Why? Thanks for the help.
