I thought so too. The "maco" most certainly stands for "Manufacturing Company." "Die Manufacturing Company" maybe? Or the first 3 letters DIE could be the founders, then "Manufacturing Company." Or it could be Dee-Em-A-Co.

Never had to actually speak the name until today, then I wasn't sure how to.

hehehhee...pronunciations are always funny....Colt Canada used to be pronounced "die-mako" (like the shark)

another one is Leupold.......

- leo - pold (like leo the lion)
- loop - hold (kinda of supports "leupy")

in this case I have seen that the proper is "loop-hold"

any others that we can have fun with?

Mark

Really. Has this been confirmed by them?

How are the rest of you guys pronouncing it. I've always thought that was a curious one.

Yes. It is a Latin word, and that is the correct pronunciation.

From Vltor's website:

Question: What does VLTOR mean?

Answer: VLTOR is the ancient Roman spelling for the Latin word ULTOR, meaning "Avenger". This word was commonly used to describe the Roman God of War "Mars".
