I am about to buy a 2nd AR. Since I have a 16” already I would like to go with smaller/shorter. Something like 10.5/11.5” of barrel for CQB and that I can reach 100 yards for effectiveness would be my choice.
As anyone knows already, 5.56/223 seems not to be an option at that distance regarding the barrel length and munitions fragmentation.

So what are my options? I am looking on every website (Armalite, Bush, RRA,etc…) and cannot find anything that meet my criteria. Looks like 6.8 are becoming more available but all upper I’ve seen have 16” barrel. Availability of Parts and ammo is also something that weighs in balance. Last problem, any AK variant is prohibited over here in Canada.

Any help would be appreciated!

11.5" barrel and 75 grain Hornady 5.56 TAP or the MK 262 Mod 1 will fragment beyond 100 yards if that makes a difference to you.  Lots of 6.8 upper out there.  ABS may be releasing shorter 6.5 barrels if it was allowed in their deal with AA.
