Yeah I know, screw eBay. That said, if you're a collector or fan of AR15 bayonets, here is probably the rarest example, and in new condition. The price is already through the roof, but I'm interested to see what it finally brings. Afterall, it's just a damn knife!

Update - Price is over $1100!

Yea, its just a knife, like a genuine 1965 SP1 or M16A1 is just an AR.....

If I were building a retro or restoring, or had a pristine oldie, I'd probably chase this one. It is a beauty.

I'd be amazed if it had the Armalite markings. Very few of those were ever made, compared to hundreds of thousands of M7's.

Goes to show anything with the magic pony on it commands a premium price

Good Lord! There's still 8 & 1/2 days left in that auction. The seller of that thing will be smiling when that auction is done!

In this case, the pony has little to do with it - it's the word "Armalite" that has the buyers bidding to the sky.

Ah, I see. Googled and found this statement:

"The blade is marked with the early Colt/Armalite markings. According to the information in Mr. Cole’s U.S. Military Knives Book III, there were only eight or ten of these bayonets made."

8-10 made and the specimen on Ebay looks near perfect. Could be the best one in the world. (?) With over 8 days left in the auction, it will be interesting how much it goes for.

ETA: Ooops. The above statement was for the m7 experimental bayo with "... a two-piece hard black plastic grip held in place with two large brass rivets" The one on Ebay is green and doesn't have the brass rivets.

I think I'll report that one to e-Bay as a violation.

Would love to have one of those for my Model 01 clone, but way to rare/expensive for me.

We'll probably end up finding those at a gunshow mixed in with regualar M7s.

I have found some good stuff, some it it with alot of luck, but I really doubt that could happend. Considering the numbers made.

Ummm, why do you keep bumping this thread, is it your ebay auctions???

Seems a little O/T to me.

Not my auction, I don't know the seller, and have no intention of buying either one. I bumped this for the first time just now.

These are rare and historical artifacts to some here. Why get your panties in a bunch? Also, I didn't see a "bayonet forum".
Link Posted: 2/9/2006 2:05:54 PM EDT
That's really interesting.
Link Posted: 2/9/2006 2:20:19 PM EDT
Oh no, panties are fine....not bunching whatsoever.

Just seemed odd, so I wanted to ask.

Have a Nice Day

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to buy an M7 bayonet and scabbard off of Bushmaster for $30 and see what kind of profit I can make from it. According at this one on EBAY, I could probably buy a new AR and several thousand rounds of ammo. Or maybe sell a set of M7's and get my hands on an M16.

I would't pay that much.

Unless it came with documentation of having killed at least 30 men.

At one time.
