Hi, all

I am looking at painting a AR and using bake on paint.  have any of you done this and what have you done for scopes.  How hot can you get them without a problem.

Thermal cured coatings (bake to cure) coatings are great for all metal firearms components and parts.


I DO NOT recommend coating an optic with a thermal (bake cured) coating. The optic will not tolerate the temps required for curing without serious damage.

Use an ambient (air cured) cured coating for optics, electronics, and other heat sensitive items.

If you have a Leupold scope, their Custom Shop now does teflon refinishing and custom color anadozing of their scopes.  They have many colors including camo patterns...

Nikon has some nice camo'ed scopes too.
