Well i was at the gun show today and I was looking for either an AR or Garand.  Went by many many ARs and Garands  Well  I decided to put the garand purchase off till my next purchase and went for the AR. After talking to 2 different venders I settled with one that makes Superior Arms AR 15s here in Iowa.  I got an AR-15 with a 16 in crimed Wilson barrel, 1:9 twist, A4 flattop reciever. 6 position adjustable stock, M-4 feed ramp.. Camp with a hard case and 2-30 round mags. all for $740. Shoots great, nice crisp trigger.  I'm in love with the rifle.  Here's the website for the guy i bought it from   www.surperiorarms.com   ...now its time to figure out what i wanna do to it to accessorize it!!

Fordheres  a link with a pic for the rifle  http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17034&d=1137878156

Congrats on your purchase and on catching "Blackrifleitis"; there is no known cure for this rare "disease" and the only way to treat it is by going to the range and enjoy your AR.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me? That sure does look like an A1 type rear sight on that riser...

Yes its an A1 type sight on the riser.. I'm taking that riser off and putting a new rear sight on it ..either a flip up or carrying handle...or i might put and optic on...gotta see how the money situation is first..

thanks for posting that pic...i haven't figured out how to do that yet on here...

I thought that's what it was...

BUIS, Carry handle or optics? Now your on the right track... Why not one of each?

BRD bit you hard, don't fight it now...

ETA: No problem on posting your pic... Next time you can do it by clicking the little square yellow image button at the bottom of the message box located in the "Insert Tags" box...

Yes it does and its not shaped right either...  Hes pretty excited about his new purchase and I didnt have the heart to say anything...

I also didnt want anyone to think I was trying to rain on his parade... Looks like you did it now...

I guess its ok now to talk about it since YOU brought it up... j/k

I noticed that when i bought but that don't bother me.  thats just minor to me..Plus its my first one..aslong as it shoots propperly and does what i want it to do i'm happy.

Good way to look at it... Your right too , as long as it shoots straight everything else is cosmetic...

Just curious, does the barrel have any markings on it refering to what brand it is?

Not trying to rain on anybodys parade. Just making an observation.

Forget the barrel contour already!! Concentrate on those poor empty mags. Load'em up and just go shootin'.

About the A1 sight situation. Was talking with the Superior Arms guy at the last show. He said he is the only one using the A1 on new rifles. I never did understand his reason.  Am I missing something here?

Nothing wrong with A1 sights.  Some people prefer them.  Less to break.  More durable.  Etc.  I don't know if that's true or not but the way they work is A.O.K. in my book.  Alot of people don't use the big aperture on the A2 and you only need the adjustment if you're shooting long distance.  For a defensive weapon, A1's are pretty cool.  I debate very heavy on getting a carry handle for my flat top that was A1.  And sometimes wish I would've.  But I shoot at a range that goes out to 600 and plan on possibly shooting that far some time.

its a  Wilson Arms Button Rifled Barrel.  I told the Superior arms guy that the A1 sight was coming off right way and and optic was goin to take its place.  Just gotta figure out what optic now.

The beauty of the A1 sights is their simplicity. You won't unintentionally twist your windage 14 clicks left and miss the bad guy clean.  The advantages of the A2 sights are only really seen at extended range, and at extended range over 75% of folks use optics.  The  new A1 tactical rail actually gives a longer rail surface than an A2 tactical handle.  Plus, we like to make things for our own product.  We won't get blamed for knocking off what noone else makes.

Welcome to the disease.    Now can someone tell me why that M203 cut is so far back?    Mess up during the barrel manufacture perhaps?

I think it is for the uber tactical M203K. They only issue them to the door gunners on space shuttles. As a back up, of course!
