Who here has one of the 17 Remington uppers?  I know they are out there but dont know who provides them.   Where did you get it or buy the build parts?

Olympic Arms makes them routinely and I think some other folks do on a custom-order basis.  I don't see a specific mention of it on their online catalog, but I do see it mentioned in the barrel section.  IIRC, you can order a barrel, upper, or complete rifle from them in it and several other non-standard chamberings.  I'd suggest e-mailing them.

I had one for a while.  Shot very well and fed flawlessly from 20-round USGI mags (didn't try 30s).  I just didn't use it enough to keep it, so I sold it.

I got my .17 barrel from Olympic Arms.  All other parts to make it run are standard AR items.  This is the world's simplest conversion.  Mine is an extreme tack-driver.  I love shooting it.  Almost zero recoil and you can watch stuff explode in the scope.  I load my own ammo and push moly-coated 25 gr. bullets over 4000 fps.

Here she is with a couple of representative targets showing 5 round accuracy at 100 yards....

BTW, there is a forum here dedicate to rimfire and pistol caliber ARs.

Yes, but this doesn't fit either description.

(.17 Remington, not .17 HMR/Mach2)

Yes, you are absolutely right. My mistake.

I was just pickin' at you.

FWIW, it might be nice to have a dedicated "Non-5.56mm AR" sub-forum here (.17 Rem, 7.62x39mm, 5.45x39mm, etc.), but I also know that many here feel we have more than enough forums as it is...

ETA:  On second thought, I guess those could all fit in with the "AR Variants" forum - I just always thought of that as the place for .50s & .308s, but now that I look I see the 6.5s, 6.8s, .300s, etc. are on there as well...

(I use "Active Topics" most of the time and rarely pay attention to what forums threads are in, anyway. )

In addition to the above venders, you can find barrels and/or uppers from the following

www.tromix.com

sskindustries.com/ar15.htm

www.pac-nor.com/

Pac-nor doesn't list a 17 Remington barrel, but they have made them in the past.  I just picked up a stripped lower today that I plan to build into a 17 Remington.

The best source I've found for 17 Remington info is www.coyotegods.com  Many fans of the 17 over there.
