What is the diameter of an 11.5" Colt Commando barrel under the handguards and in front of the front sight base?

What is the diameter of an 11.5" heavy barrel (like Bushmaster) in front of the front sight base?

thanks

A colt Commando barrel is .615 in front of the front sight.

Does the .615 apply to the 'new' 11.5 barrels from Colts?

Under the handguards is the same as a standard M4. The front sight is .625 and from there foward
.615. There is almost no visible step from under the front sight to the end of the barrel.
The muzzle end does not flair out like a thin 16 or 20 inch barrel.

FYI, there is also the LE6921SP - shorter, heavier barrel....

Model LE6921, Special Purpose, .223 10in. barrel 1/7 (LWT-M4), Entry Team version of the standard LE6921 using a limited production SOCOM/US Govt barrel.

are you asking about barrels with a 3/4" sight base seat or a 5/8" sight base seat?

that depends when it was made. Early commando barrels and SP1 carbine barrels have a different profile than modern 1/7 twist shorty barrels by the handguard cap.
