What Troy said ....

I took a drill bit the size of the sling rivet. put my dewalt on low and slow drill slow and the rivet head will pop off when you have gone deep enough and did not scratch or over bore the rivet passage. takes about a minute.

Seeing you don't know that 'thing' is a 'front sling swivel'... May I first remind you to ensure the rifle is unloaded and empty... then do what Troy said

I know this is a stupid question, but is the flower end the one with the indention? or the round part?

not the side that looks like the head of a nail, but the side that has the hole is the one you want.

Don't a lot of these use roll pins now?

With that Laser/Light/Optic setup, the swivel would be the least of my worries.

You aren't kidding. However, the swivel is an easy cure.

I recommend you tell your friend he should remove the part just infront of "the piece circled in red". Looks like an allen wrench will do the trick..

since you dont know what that "thing" is or how to remove it im gonna take a chance and ask, do you know that the barrel is a bit short?

Why do I get that creepy "airsoft" feeling?

But you may not be able to put it back on without greater effort.... so be sure before you start pounding.

That and the whole fit and finish of the gun looks like pot metal, which Airsoft or Hesse guns are made of...

It is an airsoft, I've seen a few of these before. Note the "flash hider" is molded pot metal -- it has 3 slots, not 5 -- and is orange on the inside. The pivot pin is a molded in detail or flush or something weird, the mag is painted silver, and the barrel is the same light gray plastic as the receiver.

Special_FX_45-

Are you just using this picture as reference?

You stated "This isn't my rifle by the way" so is this just a picture you found to illustrate what you wanting to take off your real rifle?

---------------------

ALL-

When you put in Airsoft AR-15 into google's image search guess what is the first picture up.

And when you just search AR-15 in google's image search this pic is on the first page.

I'm guessing Special_FX_45- was just using the picture as a reference.
