This thread comes along every month or so..... You will find most pictures don't show wear very well without doing a close up. The krylon camo AR15s show wear pretty easy, and eventually people start posting military photos.

Pony up,

Whoa there buddy....I know it can be hard to get points across on an internet forum, but I was in no way crying about not being able to see those threads because I'm not a Team Member. I am well aware of the fact that I can pay the small fee and get access. I was just showing why the author of this post could not find those threads.

I find it perfectly fair to only let paying members have access to extra stuff.........no crying here.

Ironically, I believe that photo and the one below are linked to the same guy. They are easily in the top 5 "beaters" category

Here is my XM16E1 kit on a MATCH TARGET lower, still looking to get a proper lower for it:

Am looking for beater lower, parts, etc, to go with my well used early (1995) M4 upper:

Been here since Nov 04' , and I've seen this thread quite a bit.

The few "beaters" (ARs that are

actually used) that I have seen have been posted by the one and only Stickman himself, but his

still look pretty damn good, even though he uses them extensively.

The others have been posted by Rusted Ace. Now his has definitely seen its share of action. If

only they coud talk . . . . . . .

Other than that, most (not all) have been simply safe queens, and only shot every now and then,

but decked out with $3,000 dollars worth of equipment.

Now if were able to post pics, my two(yes, I'm down to 2) would show a good bit of wear. It's

amazing how many bumps and nicks a rifle can get while clearing a building.

Wolf really beats on that shell deflector.

Anodizing rubbed shiny on the outer edge of the delta ring, edge of pivot pin worn (from magwell grip), and imperfections on upper.

Pics don't show anything really well, though.

ETA: Dang, those pics don't seem really clear

ARs dont realy show wear as much as other rifles. That combined with littel humping of our rifles results in littel external wear. I would think though that many of the rifles seen on this fourm have more internal wear that what there exteriors would indicate.

I would guestimate that 90% of this board does not use the weapon for anything more than range play....
Link Posted: 12/14/2005 11:50:46 AM EDT
Agreed, and I'm guilty of this. I've never used the gun to hunt with, and shooting at people while jumping out of a foxhole isn't exactly smiled upon.

How DO they get those guns to wear the finish off like that, anyway??

I hunt with an Armscorp M14, and the stock started looking dry after a season in the field. But all I did was rub some veggie oil on it, and it was good as new . . .

YOU live with a bunch of Marines for a year... you'll end up looking a little rough, too.

Rubbing against sandy/dirty nylon and uniforms, for one. Crawling will do it, too. Then you have to occasional dropping out the back of the 2 1/2 ton. Scrubbing the crap out of them doesn't help, either.

I'm pretty sure this makes up the majority of Arfcom wear.

Give and arfcomer a toothbrush some hoppes 9 and in a year there will be a hole in the rifle.

Looks like the first two are NOT colt autos and are they Military weapons? Guess colt does not own the world on Military hardware, guess others can make them to last in Combat also.

My Colt. The gun is my hunting rifle. It has some wear and tear from use.

I took a whipper of a fall down a hill this season and broke the clear fiber optic tube on the ACOG. The rubber band is holding the tube onto the sight (no change in zero even after that one or ever for that matter, my confidence in ACOGs is unwaivering).

The RAS II is a new addition that i'm just feeling out (i'm still trying to find the KAC rail mount sling swivel to complete the free float process). It used to wear a standard M4 RAS.

Can someone use photoshop to brighten up my first pic?
