This is the SDI mid-length carbine upper w/govt. profile barrel.

The first trip to the range yesterday was impressive, to say the least. It was about 49 degrees, 100 ft. above sea-level (what ever Port Orchard, WA is) and I was using Winchester Q3131A with a 99 headstamp. At 100 yards, sighting in the irons with a spotter, I shot 3 groups under 3/4-inch, and 2 were actually less than 1/2-inch center-to-center. That just boggles my mind with Winchester ammo and iron sights. My spotter confirmed the groups because I was skeptical.

The rifle had no problems except one light primer strike, but I had another Q3131A round with the same issue from my LMT M4-gery or Colt HBAR (I don't remember which.) It spit the brass out about 5+ feet at 3:00 o'clock.

The dime in the target is for reference. What could I do with Black Hills ammo and a scope?

ETA: I'd like to thank Talon Arms for a fine upper! The fit/finish were excellent, and apparently it's a shooter as well!

I can get pics of the rifle, but I'm watching the Seahawks beat SF right now!

Priorities...

Good shooting by the way. I can't wait to see those pics

I lost the light and can't get any decent pics right now. (At least the Seahawks won, even though they didn't play particularly well.)

As for the shooting, if I can reproduce those results at the next range visit, I'll be a really happy camper. The problem then becomes, if I can reliably hit targets at 500m, what do I get for optics? I was thinking of putting an Accupoint 1.25 - 4 on it, but now I'm not sure what would work best.

Very nice!

Every Sabre product I have handled has been top of the line.

I thought shot groups had to consist of five rounds to be admissable as evidence.

I agree, but I was just offering some results from this weekend suggesting potential. If/when I can produce 5-shot groups that look that good I'll be glad to show them. If you look closely at the target there are 3 separate places where 2 shots are virtually on top of each other. Random chance?

(FWIW, I do not consider myself that good of a shot, especially with irons, but this rifle seems to have the potential to produce tight groups.)

Very nice! My Sabre mid-length should be done in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed), so I can hardly wait. After reading all reviews of Sabre products, I think I made the right decision by going with Sabre and Talon Arms.

Here is my Sabre Mid-length over a Lauer Lower. I installed a PRI low profile gas block and MRFS R 12" rail.

How much does that weigh, minus the Eotech and 3x magnifier?
