For $20 it looks like a good deal to me, I think I'll try one.
Link Posted: 11/16/2005 8:13:36 AM EDT
That's a quick fix to my number one problem with the standard collapsible stocks.

Who ever buys one first, get back with a range report. I'd like to know how sturdy they are as $20 could be a very good temporary fix.

I agree, but if it works without falling off or flopping around, its a great add on piece. Not everyone wants or needs to spend a few hundred dollars on a new stock, especially if the current piece they have works fine for them.

I would be interested is hearing from anyone who has actually used this item.

Doesn't have the QD mount for slings.

I would worry about the sling pulling the cheekpiece off of the stock.

I doubt that it flops about... it has a rather large cross bolt & clamp type assembly that secures it to the stock.

Add a drop of Loctite to the bolt & I think it's on to stay.

Ditto... any range reports yet elsewhere?

ETA: Okay, I just tried to order and it won't put the item in my "cart." Does that mean they are sold out, or is it just a glitch? Anybody else have trouble ordering?

If the dupe police are done , I noticed it looks like the storage area is easily accessible with the stock open. It says it's light weight, and it comes in black, khaki (tan), OD green, and what else, but red, white, and blue.

I have a couple of TDI accessories. They are good stuff. I wouldn't hesitate to try this item out for a minute.

It looks like this thing would only work on the NEW STYLE stock. The Old (GOOD) stock has the sling slot on the top!

I had no problems and already got the confirmation e-mail.

I ordered the black version for my son's M4gery (if he wants a VLTOR like Dad he can buy his own).
Link Posted: 11/16/2005 8:54:26 AM EDT
I didn't have a problem ordering one from them just a few minutes ago. Once I get it and use it at work for a week or so, I'll give a range report.
Link Posted: 11/16/2005 8:55:24 AM EDT
Be sure to post some reports!!

I think that this product is a really cool idea for guys on a budget.

Somebody's thinkin' :)

Thanks for the dupe...looks cool and for $20 it's worth a shot.

I kind of wish it was sized for AA batteries. I have room for CR123's in my TD VFG but I'd like some room for AA's somewhere. I imagine they would fit but they might be sloppy. Maybe I can wrap AAs in some tactical shitwipes or something.

ETA: Hmmm…they used the term “whilst” rather than “while”. That’s fucking retarded. I might have to reconsider.
Link Posted: 11/16/2005 9:04:25 AM EDT
I think the product is great for its intended use. I also think it does not cure the real issue associated with "cheap" collapsable stocks - weakness esp when slammed to the ground to 'assist' in clearing a jam.....

Just a thought.

Good luck

Nice one,

Thanks, didn't see this the first time either,

I had some reloads that I took to a carbean class in which the brass was not sized down far enough. I had to butt stock clear several of them during the class on the standard CAR stock with no issues.

AAs will fit as CR123s are 2.5mm thicker than AAs. It's no different than the VLTOR tubes. With the VLTOR one side I have some 123s, the other side a pair of AAs. I use foam earplugs to keep them from rattling.

That may be it (although I order from places online all the time without problems).

I'll just call them.

Pretty neat idea if you ask me.. if it holds up fine under abuse than I probably wont be spending the money to get another vltor.

I initially had this problem with my stock. I did some quick grinding work and it dropped right into place nicen solid. havent had a problem since.

I just put one on order, I'll give a range report. Sucks shipping was almost as the stock, still cheaper than $250 for the LMT.

Grinding stopped it from breaking when you hit it on the ground (on the butt) while pulling back the charging handle to clear a jam?

Obviously you've never handled any of TDI's stuff, Jethro. It's very rugged polymer, fr00t!

nice, but it won't fit on my coll stock as mine has a sling mount at the top rear....

Looks pretty interesting. Don't exactly see why you'd need one in the first place (CAR and even the thin A1 stocks seem fine to me) but that seems better than spending a buncha money on other stocks.

Unrelated question: How good are Surefire G2's for a rail-mounted flashlight? I noticed TDI has them for $35...anyone have some experience with one?

The are excellent! I don't like cords and pressure switches or anything else in the process that can fail....
