No, Marine rifles get more snapping in than you can imagine with no adverse effects.

STRLN is right. God only knows how many times our issued weapons get dry fired. Especially the rifles at the Recruit Depots. You could possibly damage your firing pin or peen(Dent over time) your Bolt Carrier Group. That would take thousands upon thousands of dry firing before you would see any problems. But the best part about it is that you would learn better trigger control and you can get the same sight picture.

Awww crap. I just bought a couple A-Zoom snap caps a few hours ago. I had been waiting weeks to dry fire, and had finally found some .223 snap caps.

By the time you'd damage your AR by dry-firing, the cost of a replacement bolt ($50) and firing pin ($5) (the parts that would wear) would be a non-issue, as you'd probably need to replace them anyway, just from overall wear after tens of thousands of rounds.
