I would like to add a scope to my AR. What is the best type to use for mount on a carry handle? Where can you buy the Colt AR type scopes?

Thanks Troy. Basically I wanted to know if the Colt type scopes were worth it.

Doesn't apply to today's technology very much, but a guy in my infantry company in Viet Nam fitted a Redfield scope on a M-16 in 1965. An article on it is here: http://www.ranger25.com/B%202%2012%20Brady%20art.htm

I've got one of the older Colt/Hakko 3x scopes on one of my rifles. I like it.

I've been running a Leupold 3-9x40 for 12 years with good results. Back when I bought it I don't think flattops were available yet-if they were I didn't see any. The biggest problem with having the scope up so high is that you need a cheekpiece, which makes using the backup irons damn near impossible. It's currently zeroed at 100 meters, but I can go out to 500 meters with ease.

I've got a 4x Japanese made Colt scope on a GS SP2, there definitely are better ones but after I figured out how to set it up it works well, I repeatedly put ten round groups in a 3" group at 100 yds yesterday using 55g handloads,I wouldn't get one unless price was real good, gotta admit it does look good though. rk
