i found a blue label preban at a gun show today and the price is 1400. it is new in the box with 2 new 20 round mags. two things are throwing me off.

1) it seems to have a muzzle brake instead of a flash hider and it doesn't have the bayonet lug. i under stand the blue labels didn't have the lug, but what kind of flash hiders did the blue labels have? the serial # checks as a preban.

Is it a 20" or 16"? The 16" will be worth more money. If you plan on shooting the rifle don't pay extra for one that is new in the box. Your paying a premium for a collectors item.

not any thing over what a postban costs, stupidest thing i ever saw was the price of pre-bans, ya know ppl , if dont pay the high prices, the prices will come down. Its the ppl that will buy stuff at ANY costs that drives it up. not me [:D]

it is a 20". retail on a new hbar is 1265 i think. so it's close to post ban retail. 1400 is out the door for the blue label. i'd pay 1370 for retail on a new post ban. i saw some posts where people have seen some crazy low prices on pre bans, but for the most part the 20" hbars are around 1400 on guns america.

is the a2 flash hider solid underneath and have slots on top? i thought they had slots all around.

Buy a post ban save your money for ammo or EOtech . Unless you plan to resell it if the ban doesn't sunset. But what if it sunsets than it will be worth 1/2 of what you paid .'you pays your money and takes your chances.

I bought a Oly Arms Ultramatch 24" barrel preban, scoped with a bipod and 20 round mag in NRA 95%+ condition for $850.00 The rifle will shoot 1/2" groups or better at 100 yards with the right ammo and I do my job.

I bought a Pre-Ban Olympic, match trigger, fluted barrel and Harris pod for $850.

Some pre-bans are rare and will continue to be collector guns.  Most are destined to be just old AR's.

Unless the ban is replaced and they double in price.

At todays prices the most one can loose is about 3 to 500 bucks on a Colt preban.

That is just about 2 cases of good ammo and range fees.

Not bad considering all the features one can have and the piece of mind.

Instant gratification is the key here.

Frankly, now is a good time to buy Prebans with decline in prices. Sorry to  say this, but with the "DC Sniper" shooting, there is'nt going to be any Sunset. The laws will stay the same or be stricter. MY 0.02.

This may be a little low however, that would be my "buy" cost.

BTW, I'm a cheap bastard.

You're right--blue label guns didn't have bayonet lugs. And if it has a brake instead of a FS, I would want to know for sure it's a preban. No prebans came with brakes.

Brakes have a small hole in the end, slightly larger than the caliber of the bullet. Flash suppressors have a large hole in the end, large enough to stick a finger into.

The A2 FS is correct, and it should have a closed bottom, with slots in the upper 180 degrees. Do you recall the model of the rifle--stamped on the left side?

If it's really a NIB Colt, all complete, it probably isn't priced unfairly. That said, the 1:7 twist barrel guns are not worth as much as the 1:9 guns, as they are less popular due to their not being able to shoot the lighter bullets very accurately.

i just remember it's a sporter. i didn't catch the modle on the side. damn. it is a flash hider. i checked some other pics online. it's a 1:7 barrel. i suck at gambling. instant gratification is wrestling with me.

To find out if it's a true preban or not, check out the serial number.

the serial number does check as a preban.

I would pay no more than $700 for a preban.  It is after all a used rifle, even if unfired.

how can it be used if it's new in the box? it's nicer than the new colt i bought in february of this year. you have to use something for it to be used.

I paid $900 a year ago for a 98% Oly preban. Came w/ 4 hi cap mags / 200 rounds ammo / assault case / cleaning kit & a middle of the line camo scope.

Is the stop sign SGW Oly.

I see the rifle alone being sold for $1200-1400 ( too much to pay in my opinion )

Not exactly true on blue labels not having a bayo lug, I had a blue lable sporter, bought nib box when I didnt know jack crap about ar's, just liked the look of it, back in 92-93, it had a freaking lug on it, cause I had a bayo for it. It was a sporter lightweight, which being the idiot I am, turned around and sold off for 450 a few months before the ban, now I want it back   :(......

I tend to believe him. I'll rather loose tghe money on my prebans and be able to buy any mags I want, HK M4 mags, G36 mags, Glock and Hk pistol mags, but I feel they'll stick it to us somehow.

They know us, if they make a ruckus now, we will jump, so the Antis stay low.

Hope the bill is left to rest, but is not a done deal that it will not be replaced.

Remember Bush Sr. did it to us back in 89 so... Like father, like son.

i bought it today. bought a cheap collaspsable stock to throw on it. instant gratification won me over. a guy 4 tables down had the same rifle NIB for 1650. i need to decide if i want to keep this upper for anything.

I'd pay $550 because that's what I can build a new "pre-ban" for today.   Talk to ya' later.  TN.Frank

I would not pay more than post ban price on any rifle unless it was a serious collectors item.

this receiver will have a sound suppressor added to it. that was my big WANT for a preban.
