Come September 04 and no AWB

I would get a ......

fill in the blanks
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 4:42:19 PM EDT
H&K 91 Steyr AUG Sig 550 Not necessarially in that order :)
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 4:51:27 PM EDT
I would get a postban AR, 20" barrel. I live in the infernal state of CT... IBTL thrown is as a precautionary measure.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:01:43 PM EDT
I would send my barrels (post ban) in to be threaded, and buy flash suppressors for them. Also, I would get some RRA 6-position collapsible stocks. Oh, yeah....
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:13:58 PM EDT
Mags, bayonet lugs, and flash supressors, oh my!
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:16:55 PM EDT
I have a set appointment with my gunsmith to install a flash hider and new sight tower with a bayonet lug on my rifle on Sept. 14th. I may also install a collapsible stock, too...not that it really looks right on a 20" A2. And then I want to buy some LEO marked mags. CJ
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:26:32 PM EDT
I don't know if a bayonette lug will do me any good, but I would like to have a collapsable stock on my m-4gery...ok, maybe a bayonette lug would be pretty cool! I haven't followed the recent press on the sunset of the AWB, any news? Mike

Arent those rifles restricted by the import ban of 89 as opposed to the AW ban of 94? Even if the 94 ban sunsets, which I happen to feel is fairly unlikely, I dont think it will effect the status of the above mentioned rifles at all. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:34:16 PM EDT
Collapsible stock. Maybe a flash hider...well, probably a flash hider. [:)] The main thing I want though is the collapsible stock. Could care less about the bayo lug. SloFlo, I keep seeing things in the press from Democrats that think fighting the ban is a waste of time and that it will never get renewed with the current congress and senate. All you can do is keep hoping, calling and writing.

New AR_Guy, You're 1/2 right, '89 did ban importation of certain rifles and pistols (interesting note: Bush's Dad was President at that time!), you're wrong about the '94 ban, that WILL sunset. The bigger question is, will it be replaced... either prior to it's sunset or after. Scot
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:41:59 PM EDT
Oh, yeah, in Sept. 2004 and no AWB... I'll be getting a bottle of Dom to celebrate! Scot
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 5:55:26 PM EDT
Armalite AR-10 carbine with all the goodies and lots of 20rd .308 mags. Glock mags and a new Bushy carbine again with all the fixins. Glockdog Airborne!! Also a roll of film so I can send Sarah Brady pics of my new toys. I sure hope she doesn't get hit by a bus.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 6:06:57 PM EDT
A Factory new Bushmaster M4 and they should do it with a choice of HBAR or standars M4 barre with permanently attached phantom,Flat top with removable or fixed carry handle,Fat M4 hanguards or choice of their or KAC ras system and new style tele stock with heavy buffer. If they makes those Ill take one of each.I bought my 2 bushies over 11 years ago when they came with the cool features and the full size A2 was the rifle to have, now its a carbine.Even then they cost me 950 a piece.Ill gladly pay that again.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 6:14:06 PM EDT
I will have to fall in line and say flash hider and colap. stock
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 6:22:56 PM EDT
I want to see if I cant get a A1 lower cheap. Do you guys know of anyone that sells A1 lowers?
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 6:26:07 PM EDT
I think SGW used to make them but now Im sure all the manufactures have the A2 improvements. You could look for a colt SP1 lower if you dont mind the 2 screw front and no fence around the mag catch.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 7:39:37 PM EDT
I will install an A2 birdcage hider and collapsible stock on my Colt M4 carbine. This little Colt is the only postban rifle I own-my other ARs and Benelli M3 are prebans. Aside from that I'd like some 12 round mags for my HK USP45f and some HK AR mags.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 7:57:01 PM EDT
MAGS! Build up the stockpile for my Glocks and ARs to a ridiculous level, and get some 72rd drums for my new M-11/9. :-) I'll also be staying up past Midnight and putting functional collapsing stocks on my two M4geries, with barrel change-outs to come soon after. I'd also like to drop off my Saiga-12 and have my machinist buddy convert it to a standard pistol grip and stock configuration. After that, who knows?
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 8:14:39 PM EDT
Brigadier_92, you ask the question " Come September 04: What will you buy?" It is not a forgone conclusion that the current AW ban won't be renewed or replaced by something much worse, my friend. As gun owners, there is a lot of hard work ahead of us.... Lots of letters to write, phone calls to make, faxes & e-mails to send, money to donate, rallies to attend, friends to convert, arms to twist, etc... To this end, I refer everyone to The Essential "End the AW Ban" Contact List & Sample Letter Thread First the work, then the reward. It can't & won't happen any other way!!!

Assuming that we live in magical happy-land, and the AWB will indeed go the way of the dinosaur, I'd like very much to stock up on USGI 20 & 30 round mags. I have six of the steel British SA80 magazines, but one of them is...questionable, and the aluminum mags (especially the Bushmaster and Colt ones) just look and feel better to me. In addition, some 15 round XD9 mags couldn't hurt, although that's less of an issue. On top of that, a six-position telestock, flash suppressor, and new front sight assembly with bayonet lug are must-haves.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 8:43:02 PM EDT
new-arguy is defiantly correct. The sunset will not affect the importation of foreign made rifles at all. If it does go away you can have your flash hinder, bayonet lug and Collapsing stock back!
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 10:20:54 PM EDT
HK 5.56 mags, and lots of them.
Link Posted: 10/15/2003 10:49:28 PM EDT
I sort of like my Mini-y comp...so I might leave that. But I will put on that collapsable stock. Aside from that...Gobs of 12 round HK .45 mags (both for the USP and MK23, even though I only plan on owning the USP), and of course more 13 round .40 mags... Also would pick up a few NEW M16 magazines, since those would probably drop to the price of a "decent" pre-ban *10-15 dollar range*. My old ones are nice, but I got a few that could use replacing. Suppose teflon bodies would be just fine...but if I can get brand new ones with new springs...ahhhh that would be nice. Aside from that...I have plenty of pre-bans for my 92FS, and my 1911 is single stack...so that would hold me over just fine. Ak mags are still cheap...so no worries there, along with metric FAL's... The only guns I own with expensive hi-caps are the HK's

Magpul or Voltor adjustable stock.

What will I get? A big fat smile watching Dianne Feinstein have a stroke when all those drive-by bayonet attacks start up again.
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 6:04:29 AM EDT
I think she's equally likely to stroke out when she discovers that gun related, and specifically ASSAULT RIFLE crime rates AREN'T rising. Whatever. I don't care. As long as she strokes out, I'll be happy. CJ
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 6:42:52 AM EDT
Phased plasma rifle in the forty watt range. [:D] as for Feinstein, - Death to the Wicked Witch of the West !!
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 7:12:42 AM EDT
Phantom flash hider on my 20", and a collapsible stock for the lower. I'll then swap the lower for my Cav Arms lower, and get a 16" upper with Phantom for my collapsible stock lower. Oh, and G20 mags. Lots of G20 mags!
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 7:20:04 AM EDT
I can only imagine what the waiting lists will be for barrel threading, hi-caps, and collapsable stocks. [;)]

When the AWB is lifted, you will be able to have more freedom customizing your AR15...but will this also cause some class3 weapons designed for the military become non-class 3 weapons?

Actually HK will be opening a factory in Columbus Georgia soon. This will allow them to produce all sorts of neat weapons in the U.S. which they would not be allowed to import otherwise. Of course pollitical correctness could get the better of them, but I doubt it. Why would they go through the trouble of setting up a factory over here when they could import them like they have already done?

so...would this ban eliminate class3 laws, making silencers, mp5's, g36's, m60s, etc, all available to the public?

She already knows that. Nobody of her ilk have ever let facts get in the way of a good story. Second the stroke out. What will I buy? Mags and collapsible stocks for the AR's, 20 round mags for AR10/M1A, mags for everything else I own or may want to own down the road.

Ruger 10/22 and a .38

No. Thats the 1986 no new manufacture of transferable machine guns ban.
Link Posted: 10/16/2003 9:46:49 AM EDT
-At least 4 full cap H&K USP45 mags [especially ones that say government only :) ] -Bushmaster M4 barrel with phantom flash suppressor -One or more Beta C-mags -At least 3 full cap XD40 mags -A bunch of NEW USGI/H&K 30rounders -Anything else currently on the banned list that I think I might need and can afford. Plus renewal of my NRA and GOA memberships, cause even if and when the ban expires... the fight won't be over.

Thanks for all your posts.... I am really looking forward to this and NY-Patriot is right we have to write and fax and scare the politicians to make them believe it will cost them votes if they re-new. As for me, mags mags and more mags. Heck I would buy mags for guns I don't even own. Also a Bushmaster M4, collapsible stock would be nice too. Thanks and God Bless

Assuming that AWB bill goes away and is not replaced and that the appropriate manufacturers will increase production and actually "Sell To The Public" again: Several cases of new AR-15 mags. Many, Many 10/22 high capacity mags. Many, Many M1A New Mags. Many, Many FN-FAL Mags. 12 or so Stripped AR Lowers. 12 or so collapsible stocks. Ruger P-89 High Caps S&W Sigma High Caps Walther P99 High Caps a few bushels of vortex and phantom type flash suppressors.

Stock and flash hider for the bushy, Mac 10 clone, sp89 clone, another AK and a whole lotta mags

The Brady law isn't going away. It is Feinstein's kneejerk 1994 abortion disguised as a "crime bill" that is scheduled to sunset.
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 5:23:52 AM EDT
All the hicaps I can get my greedy little hands on, as well as a Beta Drum. Then an adjustable stock. And if any HK MP5 style carbines become available again, (semi-auto of course) I would buy a couple of them.
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 6:39:19 AM EDT
What is going to happen to all of the fixed, non-collapsable stocks that we all have now. I am sure we will see hundreds of them on e-bay!
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 9:44:01 AM EDT
Collapsable stock. Para FAL I might get a suppressor on my AR, too.
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 6:05:28 PM EDT
First, I'd buy mags out the ying yang. Glock, HK, and AR. Second, I'd put Magpul or VLTOR stocks on most of my ARs. I don't care about bayonet lugs. I don't care about flash hiders, as there are brakes out there that work great. I want my barrels threaded so I can take the ends off when I want to change out the sights, FF the barrel, etc.
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 6:22:58 PM EDT
I'll be driving my upper down to KKF to get my brake and sight tower removed, then replaced with a tower w/ bayo lug and a flash hider. Can't forget the Vltor or MagPul stock! Oh yeah, plus several 12-rd HK USP 40 Compact magazines[:D]

To both of your questions the answer is no, the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban does not affect NFA (National Firearms Act) weapons, if you want to get technical if will only affect the ability to have pre-ban features with a post-ban SBR. SBR's, SBS's, MG's, etc. will always remain NFA weapons until a act of congress removes the law and also removes other MG and NFA weapons bans, then you have to deal with state and local laws. What I am going to be getting or would like to see when that ban goes down reads like a Christmas list: pre-ban AR15 or M4 type carbine with all the goodies high capacity magazines (pistol & rifle) for some reason a 20-30 rd. magazine for my Remington 597 Magnum more firearms with all those nice features
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 7:01:35 PM EDT
If the ban sunsets, would police departments be allowed to surplus their AR-15 rifles?
Link Posted: 10/17/2003 11:36:46 PM EDT
The first thing is to purchase a telescoping stock, either the Voltor or the Magpul. After that maybe thread the barrels.
