Troy, In today's Army there are no more plain old "straight leg" conventional infantry units. You are either mechanized or are airborne/air assault/light infantry. Even the 10th Mountain Division, while not airborne or air assault, are in a light infantry configuration. Yes, they are technically "straight leg", but are configured the same way as infantry battalions in the 82nd Airborne and the 101st Air Assault. Anyone know what holds up a chicken's ass? TWO LEGS!!! (a little crack on the 101st)

My Son told me that 8 of the 44 M249s in his unit were unservicable the last time they went into the field. He likes the accuracy but not the reliability of these weapons.
