Got about $120 in mad cash.  I've only got two 30rdrs and a total of 40rds.  I think I'll be hittin the gun show this weekend for:

A.  500rd case of Lake City or similiar
B.  1000rd case of Wolf
C.  More pre-ban 30rdrs (4 or 5)
D.  Combo of _____ rds ammo and _____ # of mags

D:
I can't fill in the blanks, too many varied prices, but that is what I would do.

Good Luck!

B. 1k of wolf.

You can always pick up mags here and there on the EE usually for cheaper than at the crapshow.

And you can gradually shoot through the wolf and store some for later. (later as in next month or two, not SHTF)

Here's what I would do:

Go to www.ammoman.com and get 5 british army mags for $79.  Take the other $40 and buy ammo .

get the 1k of wolf and hold back $20 for mags, I bought to colt 20s for $13 each, you just gotta look and shop.  Each gunshow I reserve $20 for mags, whether thats one two or three with an AK mag.  I refuse to spend more than $15 for any used mag.  If I can't find AR mags at my price, I buy a couple AK mags.

If you are using standard U.S. web gear then you'll need at least 7 mags(3 for each 3cell pouch and one in the gun) after that I'd stock ammo.  Wolf is good for plinkin' and if you can afford it some good SS-109 for serious social encounters.   But I'd get mags first that way you'll have an excuse to buy ammo(but honey, I need ammo to fill the mags I have) see how the game is played, LOL.   Talk to ya' later.   TN.Frank

my advice is dont buy anything at the gunshow, i have yet find a decent price there. at the last HUGH show we had, there was only one vendor with AR mags and no real good price on them either.

thats not much money ya got to spend, save your pennies. I say AMMO for now.

You'll probably find better deals on ammo than on mags at the show...

At a gun show you should be able to get a case of xm193 and 1 or 2 clips.

$120...That doesnt quite qualify as MAD cash, does it?

More like...ANNOYED cash, or REALLY PERTURBED cash.

Either way, I am in the same boat.
Cant get angry enough to come up with real dough for the habit.  Things like rent keep getting in the way.

You could take that money, buy some trashed mags cheap, then buy replacement mag bodies from CMMG and have no more than 20 dollars in for a totally new magazine. (You have to have the busted ones because the new mag bodies are only for replacements of existing pre-bans.)

I have over a dozen of the replacement mag bodies and they are at least GI quality if not better. Black teflon finish to boot. They work very well in my Bushy.

I urge everyone to take advantage of this deal CMMG worked out, because I have a feeling the nice people at the ATF are going to change their minds on the legality of it before too long...

Uhhh...if you buy the 5 UNISSUED mags for $79/delivered deal from www.ammoman.com, the cost breaks down to be just under $16 per mag. And you don't have to keep any mangled, useless pieces of scrap-metal on hand for "evidence"...

I would get the combo of ammo and mags.

Alright then, shooting buddy will split a 1000rd case of Wolf with me (will buy at the gunshow).[heavy]
I found some new pre-ban 30rdrs on the EE for $24/each plus shipping.  Should I go with the Sanchez with green followers (Wu's Surplus) or Center Industries with black followers (ryne)?

I would only shoot wolf in my baby unless it's hard chromed. And even then I don't.Only brass cases for me. To each there own. :)
As far as the mags go and paying $24 for them? Thats to much. You can buy BRAND NEW BRIT MAGS for $15 a piece. They are as good as USGI. And in the long run praboly better. They are made of steel so should be very much so dent and lip damage resistant. I just ordered from Ammoman.com 5 for $79 shipped to your door.NIW . Thats agreat deal. Several others has this deal too with these mags. Cheers WarDawg

I would check out the gun show. I went to one a while back and found a guy that was selling used GI 30 rounders for $15. When I told him wanted to by a bunch, he told me he would sell me 12 for $100. He even let me go through his stock and pick out the ones I wanted.

So wait for the show and see if you can find a deal like that. If not, then hit EE and one of the ammo dealers listed here for your stuff.
