Which is a better carrier group, Chromed or TiN (titanium nitride, that gold look)? And is a Titanium firing pin worth it? This will be in a new Varmint rifle I am building.

Well both are slicker than a phosphated one,  but many have used phosphated ones with out any problems.

So IMO it would be whatever you like better (looks).  You are talking about TiN (titanium nitride,  that gold look) coated right?

A real titanium firing pin is more brittle than the 'regular' (whatever the regular ones are made out of) ones.  I wouldn't bother with the firing pin.  If it is just titanium nitride coated then the brittleness wouldn't be a concern.
