My Colt's buffer tube locking ring (newer "castle" style) was staked on at the factory.  How do you remove it- just a little more elbow grease?  I haven't tried it yet to see if its too tight, but wanted experiences or suggestions first.

In short - yes.  No problem if you have a CAR wrench of some type, maybe a little more harder/trickier if you use the punch and hammer method.  I recently did two Colts, and they came off no problem (used the short style dedicated spanner wrench).  The only bad thing was the stake marks when I went to sell the parts, lowered the value IMO.  Go ahead and just apply a little more pressure.
