I've come across a Colt 6731 (16" HBAR preban) that has been converted to a 6721 (M4 style).  It is "NIB" as far as I can tell.  Anyone provide their idea of what it's worth?  Thanks.

Upper only or complete gun?

Probably worth a little less than the unaltered version, by about the cost of the barrel turning ($50-75) I'd think.

Complete gun.  Yeah, the only difference is the barrel profile.  But with the 6721 being super rare....I was curious as to the pricing.  Thanks.

OF course that begs the question, preban or LEO rifle?

Actually, it is the 6721 that is the HBAR.  In preban form there are only like 134 of them in circulation.  There were thousands of uppers sold to make your own, however.

The 14.5" M4 profile is 6921.  These are fairly uncommon and uppers sell for $750-1000 depending on condition, etc.

Yes, there were only 134 produced.  The 6731 is the 16" HBAR.

It is much more common, but how much is a hybrid worth?  Surely not as much as the 6721, but is it as much or more than the 6731?  And what is a 6731 worth these days of dropping prices??

We are talking preban, non-LEO rifles here by the way.  Thanks again.

No.  The 6721 is the "A3 Tactical Carbine", which is a flat top 16" HBAR.  The M4's are 6920 and 6921.

Correct, the 6731 is the "Blue Label", no bayonet lug version 16" HBAR of which more than 134 were produced.

Well, an all Colt parts rifle is worth 1200 to 2,000, depending on how long you want to keep it before selling it [;)]

I've never seen a pre-ban Colt 6731. Pretty sure it is the designation for post-AWB 6721-style (16"HBAR flat-top) carbine. If the upper was converted to 6721 specs, then it would have to had the barrel threaded for a FS and a new sight tower with a bayonet lug. You can get a new, 6731 uppper for about $600, but the 6721 upper will run $825+. If you're interested, I have a factory 6721 upper (BL & FS), less the bolt group for sale. Email me for details.
