With the ready availability of AR uppers in .22 rimfire, is there any reason they couldn't be made in .17 HMR?  Seems like about every other gun out there these days is now chambered for it

notack, Tromix make .17 REM uppers, that is different from .17HMR.  Its much faster and also more expensive.  I agree though I think a .17 HMR upper would be cool.

there probably wouldn't be much demand since 17HMR is a specialty round for varmiting.

on top of that 17HMR is so damn expensive. +$10 per 50.

I think there could be demand for 17HMR.  I am a huge fan of both the 17HMR and .22MAG.  Basically if you don't know both are great for game upto and including coyotes and they are much more powerful than .22LR and they are much quieter than .223.  The low noise level is a big deal for me as I use them for hunting crows and varmints in a rural farm area where the farmers appreciate hunters taking out crows, yotes and such but don't like the idea of hi-power rifles being used near there families and livestock. The noise from a .223 can really upset livestock. And with the popularity of using AR's for varmint hunting it might be a natural.

I agree, I want a 17hmr, but I do not feel like another bolt action, I want it in an AR.

I would buy a 17HMR upper if someone came out with one.

I think there would be a demand for .17 HMR uppers.  Look at the number of different guns of all kinds that have been chambered for it in just the last year.  Its one of the hottest sellers out there.  Up until I thought about a .17 HMR AR upper, I hadn't figured out much use for the little cartridge.  Now I want one.

Ya know what would would be cool is if you could use slightly modified grendel p-30 mags then you would have 30 rounds of 17hmr at your fingertips O_o Id buy one of those for sure.
