I've had nothing but 100% functioning in both SA and FA.  (the 11.5" is quite a flame-thrower)  Yessssssss!  -TF

To the best of my knowledge, all of the factory Colt 7.62x39 upper receivers have the normal .250 diameter ("small hole") forward pivot pin hole.

And you're sure they were all factory built on those large hole upper receivers and not conglomeration of parts thrown together by the seller? As I said, I've never seen a factory Colt 7.62x39 upper receiver assembly built on a large hole upper receiver. And I've looked around at them quite a bit. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but if they do, they must be very uncommon. Also, it should be noted that the Colt R6830 Sporter Lighweight 7.63x39 did not appear until 1993 and by that time Colt had pretty switched back to the "small hole" style forward pin, if not completely. If someone has a factory Colt 7.62x39 upper receiver assembly or complete rifle with the large pivot pin hole, I'd love to see a pic.

I would have to agree with Boomer.  Besides complete rifles, Colt also sold the R6850DC (16" barrel) and R6851DC (20" barrel) upgrade kits which included an offset pin for mounting on a large hole lower.  Also, the upgrade kit uppers were marked "7.62x39" on the side opposite the ejection port.  The factory rifles did not have this marking on the uppers.  My Colt 7.62x39 marked lower is a factory small pivot push pin lower.
