well, there you have it hehehe...I've got each of the SARs...I like 'em, but they certainly don't perform like an AR in terms of accuracy. I really prefer the SAR 2 and the SAR 3...I put the AK-74 brake on both of them, and it really make a difference. We just had the SAR 2 out the other night, and I noticed when my buddy shot it, there's no upward muzzle movement at all. VERY nice shooting rifle. Pity you can't get good, accurate ammo for it.
My SAR 3 will shoot around 2" with handloads, scoped. Not great, but I haven't tried to tweak the load to see if it will do better. I've got the black poly furniture on the SAR 3, but I may end up going back to the wood, just because all my ARs have plastic furniture, and the wood makes a nice contrast. If you can, pick up a SAR 2 or SAR 3 before they're all gone. I think you'll like 'em. I agree with you that they're crude, but the require much less TLC to keep 'em running. And they just look so evil hehehehe. |

I have an SLR-95 to go with my M16A1. This Bulgarian milled rec., Steyr barreled SA is the best AK I have owned (out of 5 others). I got it when they were under $400, though they have risen in value. As soon as I can locate an AK-47 C3 for sale in AZ for less than the cost of a new car, the SLR will join the rest of the semi-autos: for sale or sold. -TF

i own a sar1,sar2,and sar3 along with 1 and 1/2 ar15 rifles, soon to be 2 complete as soon as i get another lower.

I've got:
Bushmaster XM15 A2 20" stainless steel barrel Bushmaster M4 type Romanian SAR-1 I must say that i have at least ten times more rounds through my AR than my AK...cheap 7.62 is hard to find in my neck of the woods (except at gunshows) Oh and by the way, CONGRATS on your new AK...Hope you have years of safe fun with it |
Of course!
Everyone needs the bad guy weapon and the good guy weapon together... |

Several AR's and several AK's. Likem both. (If I could only have one, however, that one would be an AR.)

I plan on buying an SAR-1 to compliment my single AR as soon as I stop blowing all my money on ammo for the AR [:D]
I have the SAR1,and the L1A1 to sit there beside the Bushy. Each one has it one thang going on,scope out the L1A1 .308 and you most certainly can reach out and touch anything,(can ya hear me now?)
The SAR1 is a hell of a lot fun to blast, just keep piling up the steel casings. Now I do have a bolt action 8MM mauser, (reach way the hell out there) very hard on the shoulder, like a cannon. The Bushy, well now, very lite on the shoulder, very accurate, and just nothing else beats it, in it's class. I say get em all don't discriminate. |

1970's an SP1 and Valmet M71 AK in 5.56
1980's a Colt Carbine and Hungarian SA85 AK in 7.62x39 1990's a Romanian CUR2 AK in 5.45x39 This decade, 2 Colt's, a Bushmaster, and also still have the CUR2. All were / are completely reliable. Treated several pretty rough and they still liked me. |
I have four 5.45 AKs, four FALs and now I'm building four ARs, starting with two varmint versions. The first of these will be completed next week. I've owned ARs over the years, but am currently without a complete rifle until my RR upper arrives.

My neighbor did, that is before he got out of guns. He had a colt pre-ban 20" hvy barrel a2 style, and a bushy pre-ban flat-top 16". The bushy is now mine. He also had two aks of some sort.
Yep, got both. Thanks a lot AR15.com!
Unofficial motto of the ARFCOMers "get both" Kidding. I have both, love both. I appreciate the ergonomics of the AR15, but I love the utter reliability of my AK. |
It's a lot easier to clean my SAR-1 than my AR.
The SAR sights suck, though, compared to the AR. I had to replace the rear sight with a Mojo adjustable aperture from Red Star Arms - much better. I like them both though - my AR (PWA preban lower with Colt M-4 upper) went through a three-day carbine course without a single malfunction (except for the dummy rounds we used to induce stoppages to practice immediate action drills.) Get them both! |
I have both as well. I have a MAK90 and MISR90 and love them both. For accuracy they are not AR15 accurate, but it will work.
They are fun to shoot and a great conversation piece as well... [marines] max |

2 each. |

I have an M4, Dissipator carbine, an ARM Maadi, AMD-65, and a Hesse built AK-74. I prefer my Dissipator to all of them.
I have a few AR's(colt, bushy,RRA,EA)& have owned Chinese & Egyptian AK's. My current "AK" is a VALMET M76.I like them all but my choice for SHTF would be an AR first, Then the VALMET.
I have X# of FAL's, 1.5*X AR's, and 2*X AK's. X>1. Everyone should own at least 1 of all 3.
Right now I have 6 ARs (4 Colts and 2 Dlask Arms)as well as 2 Norinco Type 56-S (both under folder and side folder)and a Norinco RPK as well as a Valmet M71-S that I'll throw in for good measure.
I got a Colt preban M4 type and a Wasr10 high cap. I love how I can feed the AK pretty much anything, I can just throw it around and worry about how much I paid for it, and it's cheap. But the AR is definitly my favorite. I'm looking at getting a second one soon.

1-SAR-1 7.62x39=cheap ammo
1-1/2 completed AR (16" carbine on a RRA lower) |
Two Hungarian SA85Ms, one Romanian CUR2, and one Romanian Romak 3. Used to have a Bushmaster and Preban Eagle Arms (sold them when I bought my M16).

I've got 1 AR, (Wilson Combat Tactical)(2 more lowers waiting to be built when the cash comes), and 3 AKs. Two of which are Hungarian, and 1 is a Russian (VEPR K). I wouldn't give up any of 'em. I've babied the AR much more than the AKs. AKs are great to put 1000+ rnds through in an afternoon! Especially with the cost of steel ammo.

Oh man !why'd ya hafta go a flash that galil Mr Lump!
I remember having a new one in my hands at the local gun store many years ago (before the damn ban silliness) and thinking "maybe later" I think they where 700 bucks brand new.Bought the HK-91 instead. Now, that wont buy too much galil. Oh well, the one that got away I guess. |
Yep 1 Bushmaster M4gery.
But Lately I've been loving my pre-ban Norinco my dad gave me. |
Sako (Valmet) M92
Bushmaster XM15 E2S M4 I have always been a bit sceptical about the AR-15 until I got to really own and shoot one a couple of momths back. I have to say that aside from cleaning the ar-15 is far superior to the AK be it Valmet or Galil or whatever. |

Bought an SAR-1 on an auction site. The dealer shipped it to my FFL but FedEx managed to "lose" it. While the dealer was hashing out the details with FedEx I got my AR. He sent me a replacement SAR-1; I picked it up from my FFL; laid it next to my AR and went "Ugh!".
Loaned the SAR to a buddy of mine. He succesfully used it to stalk, corner, and bag his bedroom window. [:D] Wouldn't want one now if you gave it to me. Now, a 1950's era Russian SKS; that's a different story.... |
Four M16's, and a MAK90, a NHM91 and the latest addition - a Bulgarian RPK on a Firing Line milled receiver.

I own a SAR-1 and a Fulton-Armory AR. Love them both. SAR = JEEP AR = CADILLAC. |
Well I guess the SKS got me into this long road. I wanted to trade up from the SKS to an AK. Got a MISR-90 and then the AR's came.
Oh what a winding road we all take. |
