I few months ago I purchase my first AR-15.  It is a used preban M4A2.  Great lookin gun.  It only came with two clips.  No manual or anything else.  Now I know nothing about this gun.  Is there a really good “Dummies guide to the AR-15” book anywhere.  Sumtin with big pictures and written in crayon?

Check your local Army surplus store. I found a USMC Tech Manual for the M16A2 this weekend. Although 1984 circa it has a lot of great info, pics and about 100 pages. $4.95

Is there actually a technical difference betewen a clip and a magazine?  Or is clip just slang?

That should take care of any ugliness.
I hope.
As I always do.
But, it always gets ugly.

I like the USMC manual too.

The MARINES really know the M16/AR15 well!

Well, I was actually going to post this yesterday and offer it to anyone, but since someone already beat me to asking  Here goes,

I have on CD-ROM the AR-15 technical Manual.  It is the same one everyone just bought.  It is the Military technical manual and armorers manual.  I will make copies for anyone who needs it or send it to an admin for anyone to download from this site for free.  I am not going to try to sell it since it did not cost me anything.  I would be more than happy to make copies and send them to those that need them.  The only thing is you would have to pay shipping since a lot of people may ask for them and I dont have endless funds to pay the post office.  It would probably be easier and cheaper to send it to an admin and have them post it for download (I'll send that for free and pay postage for the site)  Let me know who wants it and where to send it.

800M (and everyone else), Those manuals - The operator's manual and the Maintenance Manual and all are available ONLINE for FREE!!!

There are available on this site (www.ar15.com) in the books section.

Or you can head over to the Manual Depot (http://www.mcdl.org/Manuals/Manuals/Manual%20Depot.htm) which is run by Fight4YourRights as part of MCDL, MD-AR15.com, & PA-AR15.com.

On that site you can find a copy of the Army/USMC Operator's manual (the dummies guide to the M16 series), you will find manuals from several of the major manufacturers, and you can download a copy of the 'Comic Book' (Vietnam era) users manual.

Or you can get them all on CD (and a boat load more - plus targets and a bunch of other goodies) if you submit a product review or article to either PA-AR15.com or MD-AR15.com.
